People seem to gravitate towards me, and I don’t judge them. I don’t have any preconceived notions, so they feel comfortable opening up to me. That’s why some folks are upset. Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, Club Shay, has been getting a lot of attention, especially since his interview with Cat Williams. This year, he’s had several explosive interviews, and it’s making some people in the industry uncomfortable.
These interviews have exposed many secrets about some of the industry’s most powerful figures, including Diddy, Oprah, and Tyler Perry. Shannon is now accusing them of trying to cancel his show and ruin his life because he refused to take down certain interviews. He’s also hinting that he has even more dirt on them and will reveal it if they don’t back off. Ever since Shannon dropped his interview with Cat Williams at the beginning of the year, his podcast has been gripping audiences. That interview was pure chaos, and since then, he’s been revealing the darker side of the industry, sharing juicy secrets that rarely come to light.
It’s no wonder some powerful people want his podcast shut down before he spills even more tea. Shannon recently talked about the celebrities who are trying to sabotage his show and threaten him. Some stars who were once eager to be on the show have now vanished. Everyone knows the industry can be chaotic, but these people are taking things to the extreme with Shannon. Rumor has it that his life could be in danger because his critics are getting desperate.
“I had no idea it was going to cause such a ripple effect. I didn’t expect it to steer my life in a direction I’m now grateful for. But I understand what comes with that,” he said. If you recall, in this same interview, Shannon talked about the wild experiences he’s faced since Cat Williams’s interview went viral earlier this year. He had a conversation with Cam Newton and explained why celebrities feel comfortable sharing all their secrets on his podcast. Shannon clarified that before each interview, he tells his celebrity guests they can avoid any topics they’re not comfortable with, which helps them feel at ease to tell their own stories.
“I always ask if there’s anything they don’t want to discuss. Sometimes they have specific requests, and I respect that. No problem. Because I believe you can share your story without saying something negative. But yes, I think someone who’s been in the business for 10, 15, 20, 30 years has more than one juicy story. That’s what I believe. So if they want to avoid certain topics, that’s fine, but if they decide to share something, who am I to stop them? I don’t. You can’t tell people… people… cam,” Shannon explained.

One major criticism Shannon has faced is that he’s not a “real” journalist. In a recent interview, Shannon made it clear that he has never claimed to be one. For those who might not know, Shannon is a highly successful retired NFL player, inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011. He later became a sports commentator before starting his Club Shay podcast in 2020 during the pandemic. The podcast was doing well, but it exploded in popularity with the Cat Williams interview, which now has over 70 million views and is his most-watched interview on Club Shay.
But here’s the crazy part: the interview almost didn’t happen. Shannon revealed that he had been trying to get Cat on the podcast for about a year before it finally came together. One day, he got lucky and ran into Cat’s new manager, who then connected him with Cat. Just a week later, Cat was on Club Shay, spilling all this industry tea.
Cat Williams knew he was about to set the industry on fire. He made it clear: “They all coming. No, they ain’t. Are you kidding? Nah. Hey, I promise you. I got all the rest of them. I done got the ones. I promise you. Everybody trying to double back. You’re going to be having to beat them off with a stick. You won’t let them, they coming much.” And boy, was Cat right about that. While Shannon was enjoying Club Shay’s success, he noticed that some folks in the industry weren’t too thrilled and were attempting to sabotage his podcast. And that’s not the whole story.
Some celebrities, upset by Shannon’s achievements, started labeling him and Club Shay as troublemakers, accusing him of stirring up drama in Hollywood because of the Cat Williams interview. But it doesn’t stop there. According to insiders, these celebs, allegedly including Oprah and Diddy, were making moves to discourage other celebrities from appearing on Club Shay. Oprah’s conflict with Shannon began when he invited Mo’Nique to Club Shay. Mo’Nique openly criticized Oprah, calling her a narcissistic manipulator. Mo’Nique accused both Oprah and Tyler Perry of cheating her and blackballing her career simply because she refused to do something outside her contract.
For context, Mo’Nique and Oprah have been at odds for years. During their collaboration on the movie “Precious,” Mo’Nique chose not to participate in an unpaid, unscheduled press tour. This decision reportedly angered Oprah so much that she started spreading rumors about Mo’Nique being difficult to work with.
“Because Cookie from the show ‘Empire,’ I was offered that role. Now, Taraji tore it up, baby. Listen here. However, I was offered that. Then, Felita called me back and said, ‘Baby girl, they said you’re too difficult to work with. But you hear on the audio that a man told David I was difficult to work with. Do you see how that cost my family? Yes. And with no accountability,'” Mo’Nique said.
This whole situation really didn’t sit well with Oprah, and it’s easy to see why. During her interview, Mo’Nique didn’t hold back at all and had a lot to say about Oprah, which had people buzzing about how Oprah treated her. Oprah even called out Mo’Nique for having negative energy, saying, “It’s a law that if you meet negative with negative, you will just have a combustive negative force of energy. You can’t meet negative energy where it is. You have to rise above it. You have to transcend it. I would never stoop to try to meet somebody where they are negatively. I don’t care who they are.” After this, Mo’Nique found herself blackballed, with no one in the industry wanting to work with her because they were afraid of what Tyler Perry and Oprah might do. Allegedly, these two have such clout in the industry that when they blacklist someone, it sticks.

Mo’Nique has always been a fighter when it comes to being silenced by the industry. As soon as she realized she was being blacklisted, she didn’t hesitate to call out those responsible.
“I got labeled as difficult because I said one word, and that was ‘no.’ Now, I said ‘no’ to some very powerful people. What Tyler Perry, Lee Daniels, Oprah Winfrey, and Lionsgate showed me is: When you don’t do what we ask you to do, we’ll take your livelihood,” Mo’Nique said.
The craziest part is that Mo’Nique revealed to Shannon that she only got $50,000 for the “Precious” movie after all the negotiations. While $50,000 might seem like a lot to regular folks like us, in Hollywood, it’s practically nothing. It barely covers expenses like hair, makeup, and other essentials, not to mention taxes and fees. Actress Robin mentioned that about 80% of their income goes to taxes, agent fees, legal fees, and management. So, following that logic, Mo’Nique probably only kept around $10,000 from that role, which she called daylight robbery.
This whole thing made Oprah look terrible, and we all know that Oprah hates looking bad. To make matters worse, around the same time, Oprah was also accused of lowballing Taraji Henson. So, Mo’Nique spilling the tea on Oprah just added fuel to the fire. But Oprah wasn’t the only one under fire. During the interview, Cat Williams also exposed Diddy for trying to get into his bed. Cat shared how Diddy tried for years to make moves on him and even offered him $50 million when his seduction attempts failed.
“I’ve had to turn down $50 million four times. Four times! Just to protect my integrity and that virgin hole I was telling you about, right? ‘Cause P Diddy be wanting to party, and you got to tell him no. You got to tell him no. I did. I did. See, I got the receipts for everything I’m telling you. That’s why I can say I’m so free,” Cat said.
How desperate was Diddy to get Cat in his bed? Offering $50 million for one night is just insane. And doesn’t it seem like Diddy enjoys the chase? This whole situation is messy, and Cat talking about Diddy’s parties and all the crazy stuff that went down didn’t help either. The timing was especially bad because it was just a couple of weeks after Cassie filed her lawsuit exposing Diddy for gross misconduct. So, Cat’s revelations, with his video getting more than 70 million views, probably didn’t do Diddy any good.
And then there’s Tyler Perry, who was exposed by Mo’Nique along with Oprah. Tyler wasn’t just a bystander; he allegedly played a role in blackballing Mo’Nique. The movie “Precious” was produced by both Oprah and Tyler, and they were upset that Mo’Nique refused to work for free. Allegedly, they teamed up against her. But Tyler has always denied this, insisting that if anything happened to Mo’Nique’s career, it was because of her own actions, not because of him.
She came onto the podcast with a lot of passion, especially when she went after Tyler Perry, accusing him and Oprah of ruining her life. According to Mo’Nique, when she first heard about the situation, she decided to give Tyler the benefit of the doubt and reached out, hoping it was a misunderstanding. But no, Mo’Nique said that when she confronted Tyler, he lied to her face and pretended not to know what she was talking about. During her interview, she mentioned that Tyler eventually apologized, admitted he had messed up, and promised to clear her name and revive her career. However, it never happened because Tyler ghosted her afterward. Later, Tyler Perry admitted, “I was wrong, and when my movie ‘Boo’ comes out…”
And get this, she wasn’t playing around. Mo’Nique claimed to have an audio recording of a call with her, her husband, and Tyler Perry. In that recording, she says Tyler admitted to starting the rumor that got her blacklisted and acknowledged it was unfair. So, it’s not surprising that Diddy, Oprah, and Tyler want to shut down the podcast because it makes them look bad. Even worse, Shannon has been hinting that he has more dirt on celebrities that he’s going to spill, and they’re trying to stop him because they know it’s going to be explosive.
Fans are eager to know the tea and have been leaving comments like, “The industry hates what it can’t control. Keep pushing.” “These people are so sick, that’s the problem.” “The celebrities that have a problem do not, I repeat, do not want those stories discussed, unfolded, or told.” “It’s sad to hear this, but the behavior of these celebrities validates everything Cat said during the podcast.” This situation is wild, but I want to know what you think.
