Did Russell Wilson just call out Future for being an obsessed ex? Even after all these years, it seems Future is still bitter about Russell marrying Ciara and becoming a stepfather to his son. Sources say Future is jealous of how quickly Ciara moved on and is willing to do anything to get her back. “I don’t need him; she needs him, yeah,” Future reportedly said. But is Ciara considering going back to him, and what does Russell think about Future’s fixation on his wife? Let’s dive in.
“I swear, man, I’m not thinking about her. I want her to be totally happy. You gotta understand, you want a person to be happy. You have an ex-girlfriend that you had, but you want her to be happy. You’re not going to still be bitter because she moved on. I’m not bitter,” Future said.
Future taking shots at Russell Wilson isn’t anything new. He’s been doing it for years, trying to get Ciara’s attention. But it’s getting really old and annoying now, and it seems like Russell has had enough.
The latest dig from Future happened in his verse on Quavo’s song “Turn Your Clic Up,” where he rapped, “Big dog status, Bill Hopper, I ball in his mall. For my brothers, Go Yard bag, tote the Corduroy, I got it out the field, F Russell.”
Honestly, no one was really surprised because it feels like Future dissing Russell is almost a daily thing at this point. But the real question is, why does Future keep doing this? Why can’t he just move on and co-parent with Ciara like other parents do?
Let’s start from when Future and Ciara first met back in 2012. They began working together and quickly transitioned from studio buddies to dating and seeing each other almost every day. Ciara once said about their relationship, “We actually met while working, and our relationship was very organic. It just kind of worked out naturally. He’s an amazing guy, really a gentleman. I don’t want to say too much and have him be like, ‘Hey, why are you sharing so much?’ But he really is just an incredible person. Both professionally and personally, he’s shown me what a real man should be like.”
By 2013, they were already engaged, and in 2014, they welcomed their son, Future Zahir. However, later that same year, Ciara ended the relationship after discovering that Future had been involved with her stylist, Tyrina Lee. Reflecting on this period, Ciara said, “You know, we had a baby; everything seemed so perfect. He was so happy. But it just didn’t work out. The greatest gift and joy of my life is my son.”

Although Ciara forgave Future and they reconciled for about three months, they broke up for good in December 2014. A few months later, Ciara began dating Russell Wilson after meeting him at a basketball game. Their relationship progressed quickly, and they made their first public appearance as a couple in 2015. They married in 2016 and welcomed their first child together in 2017. Since then, it seems Future has made it his mission to create tension for Ciara whenever possible.
Just a few months before Ciara and Russell got married, Ciara shared that they had decided to stay celibate until after their wedding. For some reason, Future decided to jump into the conversation and make things petty by trolling them about it. During an appearance on HuffPost Live, Future claimed that God never told him to wait for sex with Ciara, but they did pray afterwards. “God told me something else; he didn’t tell me to wait. I guarantee you that. We prayed afterwards though, after we did it. We prayed. That’s a true story,” Future said, trolling them. “That’s what really got me. I was like, ‘Whoa, that stuff is blowing me away.’ That’s what swept me off my feet. Never had nobody pray after sex.”
Talking about your married ex and how you used to hook up publicly is next-level petty. But it didn’t stop there. Future went on a Twitter rant accusing Ciara of not letting him see his son, despite him paying $15,000 a month in child support. He tweeted, “This bee got control problems. I gotta go through lawyers to see baby Future. For 15K a month, I’ve been silent for a year and a half. I ran out of patience. I just want baby Future, that’s all.”
Ciara fired back at these accusations, calling Future out for lying. Her rep told People magazine that Future never paid $15,000 a month in child support and that Ciara never denied him access to their son. “He does not, nor has he ever paid, fifteen thousand dollars in child support. It’s just not true. Ciara has never prevented him from seeing his child.” Future is clearly lying for attention.
Sources say Future is really jealous of Ciara and Russell Wilson’s relationship and wishes she’d fail at everything. He can’t move on and co-parent healthily, and has even told her he hopes she fails in everything she does. That’s just plain mean. So, Ciara hit Future with a $15 million defamation lawsuit for publicly trashing her parenting and attacking her relationship with Russell just to promote his music.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Ciara sued Future over a radio interview where he talked about a famous photo of Russell pushing Ciara and Future’s son in a stroller. Future said, “Of course, I wouldn’t want somebody pushing my son. That’s like the number one rule. If I was a kid and my mom had a guy pushing me, I’d have jumped out of the stroller. In our community, no. You don’t bring a man around your son so soon. I don’t even know this guy. After a few months, you’re bringing him around your kid? Who does that?”

Ciara also accused Future of threatening Russell’s life, pointing to an Instagram post where Future used two football emojis with guns pointing at them, and lyrics from Future’s song “Juice” where he raps, “Trying to F my baby mama, dog, what’s up with you? You gonna make me get the heat, I’m pulling up on you.”
Future fought back by countersuing Ciara and calling her a flop. He claimed in court documents that Ciara’s career had died years ago, so he couldn’t have damaged her reputation because she didn’t have one to damage. He also asked the court to make Ciara stop bad-mouthing him and to cover his legal fees. Sadly for Ciara, the case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning she couldn’t refile it.
After that, things cooled down a bit between Ciara and Future, but it didn’t take long for Future to start attacking Ciara and Russell again. In 2019, he went after Russell, calling him weak and saying he let Ciara control him. Future said if Russell had more control, he’d stop Ciara from talking about him all the time. A lot of people called Future a hypocrite since he’s always the one bringing up Ciara. He said, “He’s not being a man in that position. He’s not telling her, ‘Chill out with that on the internet. Don’t even talk to him. I’m your husband. You better not even bring Future’s name up.'”
The feud got so bad that Ciara and Russell were seen leaving Drake’s Super Bowl party right after Future started performing.
Many people have called out Future for repeatedly disrespecting the man who has stepped up to raise his child and support the child’s mother. One person commented, “Future wanted Ciara to be a single mom since she didn’t want him. Now that she’s happy, he’s just a bitter baby daddy. How can you be mad that your child is being taken care of?” Another added, “Future represents toxic masculinity. Russell shows class and king vibes. Rudeness is a weak man’s imitation of strength.”
Sources close to Ciara say she is focused on healing from the trauma Future caused and has no plans to give him the attention he craves. As for Russell, he believes Future is upset because he’s a better partner to Ciara and a better father to his son. Russell thinks Future will always be obsessed with Ciara.
