Reality star Hazel E and comedian Cat Williams were once in a whirlwind relationship that many people don’t remember. Hazel E wasn’t sure exactly when she and Cat first met, but she told Vlad TV that their initial meeting happened many years ago and wasn’t pleasant. Cat started watching “Love and Hip Hop Hollywood” and became a fan of the show. He especially liked an intimate scene where they were moving out, which caught his attention. Hazel joked that sharing this was so exclusive that he might not be too happy with her.
They began talking on the phone, and Cat invited Hazel to his suite at a West Hollywood hotel. When she arrived, he treated her like a queen. She said, “It’s still new, exciting, and refreshing. They moved in together, and Hazel joined him on tour. She even bragged to TMZ that Cat spent a hundred thousand dollars on her during their first week together.
Their first 15 months together were blissful, even though she knew Cat had a reputation for being a hothead. Behind closed doors, she saw a different side of him. Every morning, he would wake up and read the Bible. Contrary to her initial expectations, he wasn’t out in the streets. Instead, he worked and then came straight home to spend time with her. “If you know him, you know that he’s a genius, and he’s very nice and humble,” she said. Apparently, Cat’s charms were so compelling that she got his entire name tattooed right above her pelvis.
In 2015, she found out she was pregnant, but unfortunately, she lost the baby. Hazel told Vlad TV that they handled the loss differently. Cat was too disappointed to be supportive when Hazel needed him the most. They broke up and reconciled a few times, and by Christmas 2015, Cat was back, showering Hazel with all the love and attention she wanted. Hazel even showed TMZ the brand-new Porsche he bought her for the holidays and bragged that Cat had bought them a new house in the hills.
By early 2016, Hazel was living her best life after Cat paid for her cosmetic enhancements. But Cat was facing a series of issues. Within a two-week period, he was arrested in Gainesville, Georgia, for assaulting a store clerk. He got into a fight in Los Angeles with men who were mocking his height, and five women accused him of pointing a weapon at them in an Atlanta hotel. During all this, Hazel was photographed looking cozy with rapper Bobo Norco. Bobo released a statement saying he wasn’t trying to steal Cat’s girl, adding that he and Hazel were just having an innocent conversation about his new clothing line inside a Hollywood hotel.
Cat found himself in hot water when a Georgia Sheriff’s Office began investigating him for allegedly beating his bodyguard with a bat. In March 2016, while Hazel was at his house to grab some of her things, the cops raided the place. Hazel E told TMZ that the authorities even pointed guns at her chest while they searched the home. They found several weapons and a lot of marijuana. Hazel was detained but released later, whereas Cat faced multiple charges and was locked up. Hazel hoped this would be a wake-up call for him and urged him to get help for his inner struggles. She told TMZ that if Cat agreed to some kind of treatment, she might consider getting back together with him. Until then, they were officially on a break.
While out on bail, Cat talked about Hazel dumping him in an interview with Chicago Takeover. He said, “What y’all saw was one of my players putting themselves on the bench, and they’re allowed to do that at any point.”
It seemed Hazel made the right call stepping away because Cat wasn’t done causing trouble. He got arrested in Atlanta for throwing a salt shaker at a restaurant worker and was caught on camera roughing up a teenager. After that, Hazel took to Instagram to reveal that Cat was suffering from paranoid bipolar schizophrenia. They were seen together again in June 2016, but in 2017, Hazel made a big move to end things by getting her tattoo of him covered up.
Eventually, 36-year-old Hazel moved on with 18-year-old Rose Burgundy. Cat couldn’t resist mocking them on Instagram Live, saying, “Maybe she showed up for that little boy that’s like 19.”
He claimed he broke up with Hazel after discovering she didn’t believe in God. He didn’t hold back on criticizing Hazel’s appearance, questioning how someone could be both light-skinned and unattractive. He also mentioned her frequent trips to Dubai, implying that men there were using her in degrading ways.
In June 2018, more trouble came Hazel’s way when federal agents showed up at her door. Already dealing with over $4 million in tax liens, Cat was under further investigation by the feds for his financial activities. According to TMZ, they wanted to talk to Hazel about Cat’s finances, especially after her public displays of the gifts he had given her. They were investigating if Cat was hiding money and whether Hazel had opened any accounts in her name. The status of this investigation remains unknown.
After another breakup, Cat realized his mistake. During an October 2018 Instagram Live, he saw Hazel was watching. Taking his chance, he pleaded, “Hazel E, please come back. I made a mistake. I won’t smoke anymore. Please, I’ll quit whatever crack you saw me smoke. That’ll be the last time, baby, please.”
However, before Hazel could consider giving him another chance, more trouble surfaced. In January 2019, she was served with a subpoena as she stepped off a plane. On Instagram, Hazel revealed the case was related to Cat, and she planned to testify against him. Hazel eventually moved on with De’Von Waller, having a child together before filing for divorce in December 2022.
