Some people wonder why 50 Cent always brings up Diddy. The truth is, 50 has been keeping the feud alive for almost twenty years. Today, we’ll dive into the origins of their beef and why 50 has kept his distance from the Bad Boy executive.

Back in the day, 50 was hired to write songs for Diddy. He told Complex magazine that because ‘Many Men’ wanted him dead, he once showed up at the studio with a Mac 10. When Diddy saw the gun, he got scared and decided it was time for 50 to leave. 50 said he understood and wasn’t mad about it.

Rumor has it that Diddy also refused to sign 50 to Bad Boy Records because 50 had too much drama. Diddy was trying to clean up his image after Biggie’s death in 1997 and the 1999 nightclub shooting that got him and his artist, Shyne, arrested. 50 ended up signing with Interscope Records through a joint venture with Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment, and his own label, G-Unit Records.

Even though 50 said he wasn’t upset about not getting signed to Bad Boy and went on to have an amazing music and business career, this was the start of their rocky relationship. Grab your umbrellas!

In 1999, Bad Boy recording artist Mase shocked everyone by announcing his retirement from rap. He decided to enroll at Clark Atlanta University to study math but eventually became a pastor. Over the years, he got married, had kids, and started churches in Atlanta and Phoenix. Then, in 2004, he made a surprising comeback with his album ‘Welcome Back,’ released through Bad Boy Records.

Around 2005, Mase connected with 50 Cent and showed interest in signing with G-Unit. But there was a big problem: Mase was still under contract with Bad Boy, and Diddy wasn’t going to let him go without a fight. This was bound to get messy.

Diddy told MTV they were discussing a buyout of Mase’s contract and seemed open to selling Mase to 50’s label. He reportedly said with a grin, “50’s definitely got enough money to set everything right.” However, according to 50, the deal fell through because Diddy wanted $2 million to release Mase, while 50 was only willing to pay $1 million.

Let’s back up a bit. Diddy went public, implying 50 had enough money to buy Mase out, but the deal fell apart over a $1 million difference. With both men known for their huge egos and desire to be seen as top dogs in the industry, this clash was inevitable.

Was 50 upset that Diddy made him look like he couldn’t afford $2 million? It’s hard to say, but it definitely seemed to tick him off.

In August 2006, 50 Cent released a song called ‘The Bomb.’ In the first half, he accused Diddy of knowing who shot Biggie Smalls. In the second half, he tore into Diddy, saying he probably wouldn’t be invited to Diddy’s white parties anymore, but he didn’t care because he didn’t want to hang around Diddy anyway. He even hinted at knowing some private information that Diddy’s baby mama, Misa Hilton, had told him.

Mase and Diddy briefly patched up their business and personal relationship. By August 2007, it seemed like 50 Cent had also buried the hatchet with Diddy when they performed together at New York’s Screamfest. But, the peace didn’t last long.

J. Electronica was messing around with some lyrics one day and wrote, “The game ain’t been the same since Big died and Wu swarmed on New York from out the Beehive.” He told MTV that he held onto the lyrics for a while until he found the perfect beat. When he did, he reached out to Diddy, wanting to release a song called “The Ghost of Christopher Wallace”—Biggie’s real name.

Jay said that Diddy’s response was, “Come to the studio right now. I need to get on that.” They collaborated, and the song came out in the summer of 2010. When 50 Cent heard the track, he decided it was time for Diddy to step back.

“Sit your ass down, Sean John!”

50 Cent started a petition asking Diddy to let Biggie rest in peace. He took to Twitter, writing, “Biggie’s name should never have become Diddy’s Black Card. When was the last time Diddy really was bigging up his brother, not bigging up his bank?”

“This is just getting disrespectful. This song doesn’t remind me of Biggie in any way, except for the Puffy background dancing and ad-libs that almost ruin a good song.”

In 2015, the documentary “Murder Rap” explored the deaths of Biggie and Tupac Shakur. An LAPD detective claimed Diddy paid a hitman $1 million to kill Tupac, and Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight paid $113,000 to have Biggie killed in retaliation. 50 Cent jumped on the allegations, confirming in an Instagram post that the rumor about Diddy ordering the hit on Tupac was true. He also accused Diddy of ruining several Bad Boy artists’ careers, including Mase, Shine, and Craig Mack, noting how they all found religion, died, or ended up in jail after dealing with Diddy.

50 Cent ended his rant with a caption about Biggie that read, “Big dead after dancing with the devil. #NoPuffyJuice.”

In March 2014, 50 Cent used his Instagram to insinuate that Diddy, Rick Ross, and music executive Steve Stoute were gay. One photo showed Steve and Diddy embracing, while the second photo depicted Diddy and Rick in a pose that made it look like they were locking lips. In the caption, 50 wrote, “I ain’t saying nothing, but something ain’t right. LMAO.”

During an interview on Drink Champs, 50 Cent shared that while attending the wedding of his late manager Chris Lighty, Diddy, who was also there, approached him and asked if he could take him on an all-expense-paid shopping spree. 50 said he was taken aback by Diddy’s gesture and called him a fruit pie, clarifying it could be cherry or peach.

It took Diddy about two years to explain his intentions. In a 2018 interview, Diddy said, “Yeah, I thought he needed some clothes. I’m a nice guy. I don’t have any beef with Fif. He loves me. Y’all don’t see it? Nah, ninja, we don’t.”

All signs point to 50 not having any kind of love for Diddy. 50 claimed Diddy once reached out to squash their beef, but 50 said he refused. He added, “I don’t respect suckers.”

50 paused their issues after Diddy’s ex and the mother of his three children, Kim Porter, passed away in November 2018. 50 took to Twitter to write, “RIP to Kim Porter. I send my condolences to her friends and family. She was loved and will be missed dearly. I know Puff is hit right now. He loved her for real, soulmate-type chin up, Puff. Positive vibes only.”

But the positive vibes didn’t last long. In April 2021, 50’s ex-girlfriend, Daphne Joy, whom he also shares a child with, was spotted out with Diddy. 50 reposted the image of them on his Instagram along with the caption, “Nah, me and Puff fight over business. If he likes the girl, he likes the girl. I don’t care. If you’re an official rrg bestie, then you already know the details about 50 and Daphne’s messy relationship.”

So anyway, although 50 appeared unbothered by Diddy backdooring him and blowing his ex’s back out, in September 2022, he turned the pettiness up a notch. After Daphne posted a photo of herself enjoying Diddy’s iHeart Radio Music Festival performance, 50 shared a picture of him and his son along with the caption, “Oh, that’s your mommy over there with Puffy? LOL. Remember what I told you the other day? These bees are crazy. SMH.”

At that point, Daphne had enough. She commented on his post, “Please stop doing this to me. I never bother you, and I’m an outstanding mother to our son. Can we please just focus on that, please?”

In November 2023, Diddy was sued by his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, and they settled the lawsuit just one day later. Of course, 50 Cent couldn’t resist taunting Diddy about it. He also announced plans to make a documentary about all the allegations Diddy had faced.

Diddy’s legal troubles didn’t end there. His former producer, Rodney Jones, filed a $30 million lawsuit, claiming in court documents that Daphne and Diddy’s other girlfriend, Young Miami, were sex workers hired by Diddy. Rodney alleged that Diddy paid these women a monthly fee to be part of his entourage. Without tagging Daphne, 50 Cent posted a photo on Instagram with the caption, “I didn’t know you were a sex worker, you little sex worker. LOL.”

On March 28, 2024, a source close to 50 Cent told US Weekly that, due to the allegations about Daphne’s involvement with Diddy, 50 Cent planned to ask for sole custody of their son. Daphne responded on Instagram, denying all of Rodney’s allegations and telling 50 Cent to “sit your black ass down.”

In another post, Daphne accused 50 Cent of only seeing their son ten times in two years. She also alleged that he had forcefully taken advantage of her and had shattered her last hopes for him as a father. “You have broken our hearts for the last and final time,” she wrote.

It’s worth noting that Daphne made these allegations after 50 Cent announced his intention to seek full custody of their son. Instead of directly addressing her claims, 50 Cent posted a photo of Diddy and Daphne on Instagram, commenting, “You moved a mile away hoping to have another baby with me, but I was busy. So you moved back and started receiving money from Brother Love. Now here we are, little sex worker.”

This ongoing feud between 50 Cent and Diddy has taken some dramatic turns as Diddy’s legal troubles worsen, including raids on his homes in Los Angeles and Miami. Tired of the constant trolling, Diddy’s son, Christian Combs, decided to defend his dad by releasing a diss track called “Pick Aside,” taking shots at 50 Cent and other critics.

In the track, Christian raps, “WPS, knock them walls down like when them Fatty Boys raiding both of our cribs. Too bad they ain’t know we bought the one next door, ’cause that’s the one they missed. This little ninja dumb as hell, silly. You need to shut your mouth and stay out of grown-folk business, stay in a child’s with silly ass.”

50 Cent hit back, mocking Christian for accidentally revealing that the authorities raided the wrong homes. He also pointed out that Christian is dealing with his own legal issues, being sued for assault by a former yacht steward. Then, CNN released footage from 2016 showing Diddy assaulting Cassie in a hotel.

Faced with mounting pressure, Diddy admitted to some of Cassie’s allegations and issued a half-hearted apology on social media. Just days after Diddy’s apology, Netflix bought 50 Cent’s multi-part documentary in a high-stakes bidding war, though the release date is still unknown.

This beef, which started with business issues, has morphed into something much more personal. 50 Cent now seems worried about his son’s safety because of Daphne’s involvement with Diddy. Meanwhile, 50 Cent is laughing all the way to the bank with his lucrative Netflix deal, as Diddy’s future remains uncertain with a potential federal indictment looming.
