Hey everyone! There’s been quite the stir in the R&B world lately, especially with Kandi Burruss and Tamar Braxton’s recent clash. We’ll dive into that later. But first, let’s unpack the drama between Kandi’s group, Xscape, and SWV.
In case you’ve missed it, both Xscape and SWV have a reality show called “Queens of R&B” on Bravo, and it’s been a wild ride. Particularly, the spotlight has been on Xscape. One of their singers, Latasha Scott, surprised everyone by going solo without informing her group, which isn’t new behavior for her. She pulled a similar move back in the 90s, which actually led to the group’s breakup. Tensions within Xscape have always simmered, especially between Kandi and Latasha. Now, Latasha is even at odds with her own sister, Tamika. The feud took a shocking turn when Tamika revealed that Latasha and her husband, Rocky, had been pocketing Tamika’s Xscape royalties behind her back. Tamika also hinted at Rocky’s dangerous behavior, referencing an incident on “R&B Divas” where he allegedly brandished a gun during a confrontation. This isn’t the first time Rocky’s aggression has surfaced; he’s been involved in altercations before, even resulting in someone having a stroke. So, what consequences will Rocky face? I’m not intimidated by his threats, and I won’t tolerate any violence.
As you can see, the rift between Tamika and Latasha, along with her husband, runs deep and has become a significant problem. It seems that Latasha’s husband, Rocky, has played a part in isolating Latasha from the group. Moreover, Xscape seems reluctant to collaborate with the people Latasha associates with. There was a major disagreement over management, which was connected to Latasha and her husband. The rest of the group wanted new management due to issues with bookings, particularly Candy, who advocated for a change.

While the issues within Xscape could be discussed endlessly, let’s shift focus. Let’s delve into the drama between SWV and Kandi, and Xscape.
During the show, there were discussions about Xscape and SWV co-headlining a show, potentially leading to a joint tour, which presented a fantastic opportunity. SWV was enthusiastic, eager to capitalize on the chance to make money together. However, Xscape hesitated. They were concerned that co-headlining would mean splitting the earnings, disrupting their accustomed payment structure. Xscape typically negotiates higher payouts and often headlines their shows for increased earnings. They were firm on not compromising regarding money, which made the meeting uncomfortable, especially when they explained their stance. SWV felt slighted, interpreting Xscape’s stance as placing themselves above them. Understandably, SWV was offended, feeling as though Xscape deemed themselves superior. Their reaction was justified; they wanted to assert that they weren’t inferior in the situation.
The response from viewers of the show was quite vocal, especially in support of SWV. Candy took to Twitter, stating, “While we weren’t headliners in the 90s, we’ve held that spot for the past six years since reuniting. Respectfully, they’ve opened for us numerous times.” Tiny of Xscape added, “We adore SWV as much as you do, but business is business. I’m not about hating, but always about business.” Candy elaborated further on her YouTube channel, emphasizing that Xscape currently holds a stronger touring presence than SWV. She highlighted that past album sales don’t necessarily translate to ticket sales today. On the other side, SWV members voiced their stance. Lee Lee cautioned, “Proceed with caution,” and showcased international support for SWV’s music. Coco shared comparative sales and streaming figures, underscoring SWV’s dominance in those metrics. They argued that co-headlining with Xscape should be feasible given their numbers. Coco also echoed sentiments from a post by a billionaire, suggesting that past headlining arrangements of Xscape weren’t consistent. Moreover, Taj from SWV and members of Xscape discussed the touring issue, revealing their dissatisfaction with Xscape’s stance.

When we received the call, we were under the impression it was going to be a joint effort, a lavender collaboration. The plan was for a co-headlining situation. However, upon arrival, everything had shifted drastically. Stuck with a signed contract, there was no turning back. The sudden change disrupted the entire vibe. It’s frustrating because we were genuinely excited about it. Now, it just feels off. The atmosphere has shifted, and it’s disheartening. It’s hard not to feel some type of way when we see snippets here and there, and people are still making snide remarks about us. We were geared up to make history, to do something unprecedented. But then, to be brushed aside because someone else has a larger social media following… it’s bewildering. We’re out here grinding, living out of suitcases, sacrificing time with our families, only to be told we’re not up to par. SWV feels slighted, especially after filming a reality show with Xscape, thinking it would lead to a joint tour. It’s clear now that Xscape isn’t interested in sharing the spotlight. Egos might play a part, but it ultimately boils down to money. Xscape is accustomed to a certain income, and splitting the earnings equally with us doesn’t sit well with them. They’ve grown accustomed to headlining gigs, thanks to their TV exposure. Candy and Tiny’s reality TV stints have boosted their popularity, enabling them to draw larger crowds and demand higher fees. While I understand their perspective, the delivery was off-putting. It’s as if they believe they’re too superior to share the stage with us. It’s a disappointing situation, both for SWV and our fans. Granted, a joint tour would still be lucrative for all parties involved. But Xscape operates differently; they demand more and aren’t willing to budge. Hopefully, there’s room for reconsideration in the future. Seeing Xscape and SWV tour together would be incredible.

Tamar Braxton’s Heated Dispute with Kandi & Todd
Let’s delve into the recent drama involving Tamar Braxton and Kandi Burruss alongside her husband Todd. Some time back, Tamar vaguely suggested that Kandi and Todd had confronted her backstage during one of their joint concerts. However, Tamar didn’t explicitly name them until her appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” where she confirmed that it was indeed Kandi and Todd who had confronted her. This revelation surprised many, especially considering that Tamar and Kandi appeared to have reconciled during their time on “Celebrity Big Brother.”
This rift isn’t the first between Tamar and Kandi. Years ago, when Tamar and Kandi were touring together with the group Xscape, Tamar attempted to feature Kaya and TS Madison during her performance. At the time, Kaya and TS Madison had gained fame for their show “Queens Court,” where they humorously criticized celebrities, including Xscape. This incident caused significant tension between Tamar and Kandi, resulting in a messy situation.
Despite their reconciliation on “Celebrity Big Brother,” their relationship soured once again. This time, the disagreement stemmed from Tamar’s defense of Carlos King. Carlos, a producer, was planning an unauthorized biopic on Xscape, a project that deeply upset Kandi when she discovered it was happening without her knowledge. Tamar’s neutral stance on the matter, as expressed on “Dish Nation,” seemed to favor Carlos more than Kandi, which led to further strain in their relationship.
Tensions escalated when Kandi and Todd caught wind of Tamar’s comments. According to Tamar’s account, the confrontation occurred backstage during a concert. Kandi expressed her displeasure with Tamar’s remarks about Carlos King, leading to a heated exchange between them. Despite Tamar’s attempts to defuse the situation, it escalated, with Kandi seemingly suggesting a physical altercation.
Overall, the ongoing feud between Tamar Braxton and Kandi Burruss, exacerbated by past conflicts and recent disagreements, highlights the complexities of relationships within the entertainment industry.
