When Neil’s wife, Crystal Renee, filed for divorce in August 2022, it wasn’t much of a surprise. The R&B singer has a history of messy relationships. But no one expected the real reason Crystal decided to end their six-year marriage. Neil had been unfaithful, involved with multiple women. Even worse, one of them ended up pregnant—twice.

Let’s backtrack a bit. Crystal filed for divorce in 2020 but later withdrew her petition. She shared, “I love my manager, Tango, because he doesn’t sugarcoat anything. During the heated discussions about divorce, he asked me, ‘Do you still want to be married?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ He responded, ‘Then quit cheating. That’s it.’ I was like, ‘Alright, thanks.'”
In 2022, Crystal and Neo renewed their vows in Vegas, but they separated later that same year. On July 30th, Crystal took to Instagram to accuse Neo of cheating. She revealed that during their eight-year relationship, which included their marriage, Neo had affairs with multiple women. In her now-deleted post, she wrote, “Eight years of unknowingly sharing my life and my husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him, all unprotected. What the hell?”
Crystal also said that Neo had asked her to accept his behavior and stay in the marriage. She was heartbroken and disgusted, calling his request “absolutely insane.” She ended her post with, “I choose me. I choose my happiness, health, and respect.”
But why would someone like Neo pay for these services? Psychologists from international advocacy groups interviewed 700 men across several countries to understand why they didn’t hesitate to pay for such services.
One guy shrugged and said, “It’s no big deal. It’s just like getting a beer.” To which someone replied, “Uh, respectfully, no, it’s not.” The most common reasons people gave were pure lust, dissatisfaction in their relationships, and wanting to have fun without any emotional ties or commitment. We’re not exactly sure which of these reasons applies to Neo, though.
Anyway, Crystal had had enough of the drama. She told Neo to leave and filed for divorce a couple of weeks after she caught him cheating. Her divorce papers dropped a bombshell: Neo had fathered a child with a woman named Shade Bonnaris. The baby’s name is Braden Bonnaris.
Here at RRG, we usually dig up dirt on anyone, but when it comes to Shade, we hit a dead end. All we know is that she’s a twin and lived in California most of her life. She used to hang out with Chris Brown’s ex-girlfriend, Karuchi Tran. She moved to Atlanta and became popular for her performances at the city’s gentlemen’s clubs. Before Neo, she was linked to athletes Richard Sherman and Andre Drummond.
As the blogs exploded with new allegations about Neo and his community’s antics, another of his supposed side pieces entered the fray. Meet Pure Dominican, who took to Instagram to claim she was in a four-way relationship with Neo and three of his alleged mistresses. “I know you’re lying,” she wrote. In her Instagram story, she gushed about her undying love for Neo, sharing how he took great care of her and her children. “Now wait a minute, is Neo out here fathering babies and looking after random women’s kids too?” she wondered aloud. “Well, aren’t you just the Papi out here.”
She went on to share that she had dreamt of kissing Neo’s big, beautiful lips ever since she was a little girl and was overjoyed to be with the man she had loved for so long. Neo, however, remained silent on her accusations. This drama unfolded just a month after Crystal filed for divorce, and rumors began swirling that Shade was pregnant with baby number two. At that time, no one was certain if Neo was the father.
Neo had other concerns to address. He told the court that because Crystal exposed him as a cheater, he lost $400,000 worth of deals related to public appearances, professional bookings, and promotional efforts. “You want some cheese with that wine?” In February 2023, Neo was ordered to pay Crystal a lump sum of $1.6 million.
He gave her the deed to one of their homes in Georgia and $20,000 to cover moving expenses. She’s also receiving $12,000 a month in child support for their three kids and an additional $5,000 a month in alimony for the next three years. Today, she finally confirmed she’s pregnant again and expressed regret over getting pregnant both times while Neo was still married to Crystal. A few days after the divorce was finalized, Shade posted on Instagram about coming to terms with her complicated situation.
The woman who gave birth to Neo’s seventh child, a healthy baby boy named Brixton Smith, in March 2023, found herself in legal trouble shortly after. She was taken into custody and charged with child cruelty for allegedly helping her son from a previous relationship fight another child at a bus stop. According to Radar Online, a woman named Veronica Madison claims Shade and her son drove to the bus stop, hid behind some bushes, and then attacked her son as he got off the school bus. Eyewitnesses and camera footage reportedly showed Shade punching Veronica’s son while her own child fought him too. Veronica’s petition also states that Shade sprayed her son with pepper spray.
After eyewitnesses called the police, Shade and her son fled the scene. Veronica claims that since the incident, Shade’s son has been making verbal threats on social media, even threatening to harm her son. This is apparently the third time Shade’s son has had a run-in with Veronica’s son.
Shade was arrested and is now in Fulton County Jail, facing serious first-degree charges. Her son has also been charged as a juvenile.
Veronica has taken out a restraining order and told Radar Online that her son was actually the victim. She got involved to protect him. “As a law-abiding citizen, I am fully committed to cooperating with the legal authorities and providing all necessary information to ensure a fair and just resolution,” she said.
With the case still pending, it seemed Neo had moved on with Shade and their new family. In April 2023, they were seen together, and Neo surprised her with a bunch of expensive gifts. On another night out, Shade posted photos and videos of Neo performing at a club, calling him her “sexy baby daddy.” One video even showed Neo playfully flicking his tongue at the camera. But if Shade thought she was becoming Neo’s main partner, she was mistaken. On April 27, 2023, TMZ caught up with Neo, and he announced that he was happily single. Despite having seven children with three women, Neo said his DMs were flooded with women wanting to get close to him. He mentioned he wasn’t interested in dating celebrities, calling them weirdos like himself, and was looking for a regular girl to date.
After that interview, things between him and Shade changed. In May 2023, Neo filed legal documents to establish the parentage of their youngest child and requested his eldest son be given his last name. He wanted the children he shared with Shade to inherit from him as if they were born in wedlock, ensuring their future security. When The Shade Room posted about his court filing, Neo commented, questioning why his personal business was being turned into news. He said, “We had kids, we’re not together, but I’ll support my kids like any other responsible father.” He called The Shade Room thirsty and emphasized that all his children were healthy, beautiful, and well taken care of, with no issues between him and the mothers.
A few days later, Shade posted a DNA test confirming Neo as the father of the youngest child. In June 2023, she responded to his court filing by requesting primary custody and immediate child support, also seeking reimbursement for medical, educational, insurance, and other expenses.
No matter how hard Neo tried to keep his personal life out of the public eye, Shade couldn’t stop spilling their secrets on social media. In a candid June 2023 Instagram post, she admitted to playing a part in Neo’s divorce and said she had apologized privately to Crystal. She described Crystal as confused, broken, betrayed, and misunderstood. Shade added, “She’s hurting and healing, and even though Neo tries to act tough, he knows he’s hurting deep down too.” She emphasized that Neo needed love and support from his fans, suggesting he was going through a mid-life crisis at the age of 44.
Shade also mentioned Neo’s struggles with accountability and his addictions. She hinted that he was hanging out with a crowd that supported his erratic behavior and his addiction to intimacy. According to Shade, Neo hadn’t changed much since his ex, Monietta Shaw, had exposed his infidelity. Monietta, who shares two children with Neo, had written about his issues in her book, which is linked in the description box. She revealed that during their relationship, she tried to manage his constant cheating by allowing him to be upfront about it and use protection. Despite this open arrangement, Neo continued to lie and deceive her.
In desperation, Monietta agreed to include a third party in their bedroom multiple times. By 2023, Monietta disclosed in an interview that Neo wanted threesomes every day. She also revealed that after he convinced her to burn her Fallopian tubes because they were supposedly done having children, he broke up with her and went on to father five more children with other women.
So yeah, Shade wasn’t really telling us anything we didn’t already know. But it looks like Neo’s issues with infidelity might have gotten worse. Right now, Neo and his ex are set to go to mediation in September 2023 to sort out their child custody and support issues. Meanwhile, Neo is trying to convince everyone that he, Monietta, Crystal, and his current partner all have a great co-parenting relationship.
In an interview on the Gloria Velez podcast, Neo said, “It takes a village. Everyone understands that I’m probably the one who’s home the least, and they’re okay with it.” He added that having a good relationship with all three women makes things easier for him. He emphasized that his children should respect all their mothers, saying, “You will respect them. You know that’s your mama, or we say that’s your extra mom.”
Even though Neo says they’re on good terms now, he admits that conflicts still happen sometimes because, well, “baby mamas and baby daddies have drama from time to time.” But he insists that at the end of the day, it’s all about what’s best for the kids.
