Megan Thee Stallion and The Baby engaged in a heated exchange on Twitter recently, which I’ll delve into shortly. But first, let’s shift focus to singer Chloe Bailey. Many of you are familiar with Chloe as one half of the duo Chloe x Halle, alongside her sister Halle. However, Chloe recently made her solo debut with a performance. In a previous video, I discussed Chloe’s solo ventures, aiming to clarify any misconceptions arising from the title. I wasn’t suggesting a breakup of Chloe x Halle, but rather highlighting Chloe’s exploration of solo endeavors while remaining part of the group. Now, onto Chloe’s rendition of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good,” which garnered attention. Her rendition showcased her exceptional vocal prowess, though it sparked debate when performed on ABC’s Juneteenth special. Some were surprised by Chloe’s provocative choreography, deeming it unexpected, especially for a Nina Simone tribute. Reactions flooded Twitter, with some expressing disappointment in the juxtaposition of the performance with the song’s significance. Conversely, others praised Chloe’s vocal talent while critiquing the choreography’s suitability. Despite the mixed reactions, Chloe received support from fans acknowledging her star quality and captivating performance.

“You better believe it, darling.” Indeed, opinions were quite split. Some adored it, while others weren’t impressed in the slightest. Certain viewers found the performance overly suggestive and out of place for the occasion, a sentiment I can understand given the context. Personally, I felt it would’ve been more fitting for a platform like the BET Awards or the VMAs. Nonetheless, Chloe executed it well. Was it extravagant? Without a doubt, but she still delivered excellently. I admire Chloe’s commitment to delivering polished performances, a trait lacking in some artists who seem indifferent on stage. She possesses remarkable stage presence, albeit sometimes veering towards the extravagant. Usually, she performs alongside her sister Halle, who brings a more subdued energy, creating a harmonious balance. Now solo, Chloe’s taking her performance to new heights, which may catch some off guard. Yet, her expressive stage presence has always been part of her identity. I appreciate her dedication to the craft. That’s why I’m a fan of Chloe and Halle, as well as artists like Doja Cat and Normani, who consistently deliver top-notch performances. Chloe could benefit from guidance from a creative director or choreographer to refine her stage presence and control. Taking cues from her mentor, Beyoncé, who’s mastered the art of commanding a stage, could be invaluable. Beyoncé knows precisely when to dial it up and when to pull back, showcasing unparalleled control. Chloe has immense potential, and with the right direction, she’ll continue to shine. Even her sister Halle showed her support, hyping Chloe’s performance on Twitter, proving the bond between them is unbreakable.

“Gotham quaked at the sight, knowing it was ‘B’ then and forevermore.” Chloe replied to her sister, “You’re my ride or die. Love you endlessly, and I’m longing for your company. Lol. Thanks, sis.” Meanwhile, Nina Simone’s granddaughter lauded Chloe’s rendition. Taking to Twitter, she remarked, “Critics may assail Chloe Bailey for her performance of my grandmother Nina Simone’s ‘Feeling Good,’ but they fail to grasp Grandma’s bold spirit. She’d have adored it as much as I do. Relax. Chloe nailed it. Grandma was unabashedly herself, doing as she pleased. Educate yourselves. If Grandma could, she’d probably have done it herself. Chloe, you owned it, girl. Period. Also, watch ‘What Happened, Miss Simone?’ on Netflix for insights into Grandma. Happy Juneteenth, everyone.” Lisa, Nina Simone’s daughter, echoed her granddaughter’s sentiments, commending Chloe and endorsing her take on ‘Feeling Good,’ a sentiment I share. Chloe received nods of approval from both Nina Simone’s daughter and granddaughter, leaving her grateful and elated. Despite some dissent, Chloe’s performance found favor with many. Shifting gears, let’s delve into the feud between Megan Thee Stallion and rapper The Baby. Their recent Twitter spat drew in Megan’s boyfriend, Partisan, resulting in chaos. For those unaware, Megan and The Baby were once on good terms, collaborating on multiple tracks. However, Megan soured on The Baby when he teamed up with Tory Lanez. As a refresher, Tory Lanez stands accused of shooting Megan, though the case remains unresolved, with witnesses failing to corroborate Megan’s account. This ambiguity led some in the industry to shun Tory Lanez initially, but now, artists like Chris Brown and Lil Wayne are once again collaborating with him.

French Montana is collaborating with Tory Lanez. Additionally, The Baby recently dropped a single titled “Scat” featuring Tory Lanez, sparking discontent from Megan Thee Stallion. Megan, who shares a close professional bond with The Baby, believed that the track with Tory was unauthorized. Earlier this year, when Tory was promoting the song, Megan took to Twitter, dismissing it as old and unapproved, hinting at her upcoming “Cry Baby” video. However, it turns out Megan was unaware that the song had been cleared. Feeling betrayed by The Baby’s promotion of the track, she unfollowed him on Instagram. Understandably, Megan’s frustration is valid, yet in the cutthroat music industry, loyalty isn’t always guaranteed. Most individuals prioritize their careers and financial gains over loyalty to fellow artists. Megan’s own actions reflect this reality; she clandestinely switched labels from Carl Crawford to Roc Nation for business reasons. Moreover, she replaced her friend Asian Doll with the City Girls on her track “Do It On the Tip” and collaborated with Nicki Minaj before teaming up with Cardi B, Nicki’s rival. Megan justifies her decisions by asserting her artistic freedom and the separation between personal relationships and professional endeavors. Ultimately, Megan’s actions suggest that she’s willing to prioritize her own advancement, even if it means stepping on a few toes along the way.

Can you blame her? She operates in an industry where people prioritize their own gain over loyalty to fellow artists. So, she played the game. It’s all business. When it comes to Tory and The Baby, Megan has to grasp that it’s a strategic move. Tory’s music still resonates with many, garnering streams, naturally drawing interest from other artists like The Baby. Megan’s feeling of betrayal by The Baby is valid; after all, she considered him a friend in the industry. Yet, he collaborated with someone who harmed her. She has every right to be upset. However, if he’s not genuinely her friend, only an industry acquaintance, she shouldn’t anticipate loyalty.

There was a Twitter spat between Megan and The Baby after a controversial tweet appeared on The Baby’s account, implying a connection between him and Tory Lanez’s legal situation. The Baby denied retweeting it, suggesting a possible hack or misunderstanding. Megan criticized the hypocrisy of industry support behind closed doors while actions in public contradict. She emphasized the seriousness of the situation, urging people to not trivialize it for social media attention.

In response, The Baby attempted to diffuse the tension, claiming he holds no ill will and reminding Megan not to let industry dynamics distort her perception.
Maintain your stance without feeling like I’m opposing you. Keep your focus, my friend. “Why is he addressing her like a guy?” she countered. “My position remains unchanged while yours has shifted. We’ve discussed this privately, and you explicitly deemed it an unsound business move. So why would I endorse such a thing? But now, this isn’t your concern. It’s not authentic. But you stick to your business, my friend,” she retorted. The Baby responded, “I don’t engage in back-and-forths with my own circle online. Yet here I am, entangled in this online exchange with another man’s partner over accusations made by another man. How does that even make sense? You guys are something else. Happy Juneteenth, though. We certainly kicked off this confrontation with a bang, didn’t we? Love you, Meg.” Following the exchange between Megan and The Baby, Megan’s boyfriend, Party, intervened and took aim at The Baby. “Your mannerisms are laughable. Many of you women are laughable. Any man who harms a woman is despicable, and any man who supports, condones, or aligns himself with such behavior is weak. And any woman who endorses it for any reason is incredibly pathetic, bitter, or misguided,” he declared. “You’re a joke, man. Engaging in foolishness, then trying to backtrack. That’s what you’re about. You never have to address her again.” The Baby retorted, “You clearly don’t know about me. You clearly don’t know about me.” This statement seemed threatening, given The Baby’s history of violence and propensity for confrontation. Perhaps he’s issuing a threat to Party, although Party towers over him at six foot five. In a physical altercation without weapons, Party would likely overpower The Baby. But that’s beside the point. Meanwhile, Megan’s former best friend, Kelsey, joined the conversation with a cutting remark: “Disloyalty is rampant, huh?” It was a direct dig at Megan. For those unaware, Megan and Kelsey’s friendship soured over the Tory Lanez incident as well. When the shooting occurred, Kelsey felt abandoned by Megan, who also accused her of accepting hush money from Tory, a falsehood. Consequently, Kelsey viewed Megan’s actions as disloyal, which explains her tweet. This underscores Megan’s hypocrisy. While Megan rightfully criticizes The Baby, she herself hasn’t always been loyal to those around her. It’s an industry rife with duplicity, where some who support her in private may eventually reconcile with Tory, prioritizing business over loyalty. It’s a grim reality, but that’s how it goes.
