In my previous video, I discussed Lizzo opening up about her struggles with body image. She recounted a moment when negative thoughts overwhelmed her as she undressed for a shower, questioning herself and feeling disgusted with her body. Normally, she would counter such thoughts with positivity, but this time, she couldn’t.
Lizzo has faced relentless bullying and criticism about her size, leading her to feel increasingly uncomfortable in her own skin. I mentioned in my video that there might be deeper reasons behind her struggles, as hinted in one of her TikTok videos. While Lizzo has been a beacon of body positivity, she too grapples with confidence issues, especially given the constant scrutiny she faces. Despite advocating for self-acceptance, she’s now striving for a healthier lifestyle, incorporating exercise and a revamped diet, possibly even adopting a vegan lifestyle.
Recently, she endorsed JJ Smith’s 10-day smoothie detox cleanse on TikTok, emphasizing the importance of safe detoxification. Although her intention was responsible promotion, many of her plus-size fans expressed disappointment and concern. Some felt betrayed by their role model, while others worried about the message it sends, fearing it could contribute to unhealthy dieting practices.

These reactions highlight a complex dilemma: while Lizzo’s journey toward health is valid, the means she promotes to achieve it may inadvertently perpetuate harmful stereotypes and expectations.
As evident from various comments, many of Lizzo’s plus-sized supporters expressed dismay over her decision to undergo a detox. Frankly, I fail to grasp the controversy. While I’m no medical authority, it’s common knowledge that temporary detoxification can be beneficial when the body accumulates toxins. For instance, if one consumes excessive alcohol or indulges in unhealthy, processed foods, a brief detox can be beneficial. Let’s be clear: detoxing isn’t about shedding pounds; it’s about purging toxins from the body. It’s a temporary measure with numerous advantages, as Lizzo was trying to convey. She simply aimed to explain her need for a detox and how it made her feel better afterward.
Personally, I embarked on a 10-day smoothie detox. Typically, I’d hesitate to share such endeavors online due to societal expectations that any health-related effort by a larger individual must solely aim for drastic weight loss. However, my motivation was different. November took a toll on me—I overindulged in alcohol and spicy foods, wreaking havoc on my well-being. I sought to reverse these effects and return to a healthier state. I’m immensely proud of my achievements: improved sleep, hydration, inner peace, mental stability, physical condition, and even my skin and eyes have benefited. I feel and look fantastic, and that’s what matters.

Let’s be clear: I’m a larger individual who underwent a smoothie detox, and I wanted to share my positive experience. Each person should have agency over their body without judgment. Lizzo shouldn’t feel compelled to justify her choices; they’re hers to make. To those criticizing her pursuit of health, it’s time to reevaluate priorities. Why is it acceptable when others like Rebel Wilson or Adele undergo transformations, but Lizzo faces backlash? It’s time to focus on our own well-being and stop projecting onto others. Let Lizzo live her life as she sees fit, and let’s concentrate on our own journey to health and happiness.
Moving on swiftly to the next topic, there’s been some chatter, courtesy of the Daily Mail, suggesting that NBA player Tristan Thompson was seen in the company of another woman, reportedly behind Khloe Kardashian’s back. Frankly, when I stumbled upon this tidbit, it hardly raised an eyebrow. Tristan seems to have a knack for revisiting his old habits. With him now residing in Boston, far from Khloe’s watchful eye, it’s no surprise if he’s taking liberties. History tells us that whenever Tristan finds himself distanced from Khloe, he’s often seen in the company of other women. Predictable, right? However, TMZ insists that this woman in question is merely his estate manager named Julia, and according to sources close to the Kardashians, their relationship is purely platonic. Do we buy into that narrative? Well, it’s debatable. I’ll be keeping a close tab on this story because my gut feeling suggests Tristan might be up to his old antics. With him now living in a different state, where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire. Another cheating scandal wouldn’t exactly come as a shock. For now, let’s extend the benefit of the doubt and entertain the notion that he was merely spending time with a platonic friend. Yeah, right. Anyway, onto the final topic.
I’d like to delve into the recent backlash directed at DJ Academics, a prominent hip-hop commentator within the industry. Although this incident occurred over the weekend, it’s still pertinent given Academics’ status as a fellow blogger. While I may not always align with his viewpoints, the treatment he’s receiving from certain rappers strikes me as unjust.
The controversy unfolded on the Clubhouse app, where Academics engaged in discussions with various artists including Meek Mill, Tory Lanez, Lil Yachty, Trav, and 21 Savage. Notably, Meek Mill appeared particularly incensed, citing personal grievances with Academics while also levying criticisms regarding his portrayal of hip-hop culture.

One of the recurring criticisms against Academics is his coverage of violence in Chicago, with many accusing him of exacerbating tensions and fueling conflicts between artists. However, it’s important to note that Academics primarily shares content that other celebrities post on their own social media platforms. Essentially, he’s operating within the parameters of typical blogging practices, shedding light on what’s already in the public domain.
Some artists take issue with Academics’ spotlight on their actions, preferring not to be held accountable for their online behavior. Rather than addressing the root causes of their conflicts, they deflect blame onto him for purportedly inciting violence and discord among artists. While it’s true that Academics may have, on occasion, contributed to such dynamics, it’s a stretch to attribute the escalation of conflicts solely to his actions.
It’s essential to acknowledge that Academics cannot compel individuals to resort to violence, especially when underlying tensions far transcend online exchanges. Despite this reality, figures like Meek Mill and Tory Lanez persist in laying unwarranted blame on Academics for the violent disputes within the hip-hop community.
You catch my drift, right? It’s like, the energy you put out there—it’s not just neutral. It has consequences. People get hurt because of what gets stirred up on your platform. I’m not saying you’re intentionally causing harm, but you need to be mindful of the impact. When you post things, it sets off a chain reaction. It provokes certain reactions from certain people, and then things spiral out of control. If I wanted to, I could have retaliated in a much harsher way, but I chose not to. I’m not looking to escalate things to that level, and I don’t think you are either. Sometimes, when you talk about me, you wield a lot of influence. Remember that situation with DJ Academics? We should really tone down the hostility on that front. How many lives have been lost because of the beef fueled by your platform? It’s not solely on you, but there’s responsibility on your end too. Those involved need to take a step back and think about the consequences of their actions. This whole internet feud culture—it’s toxic. It shouldn’t even be a thing. But unfortunately, it spills over into real life, and innocent people end up getting hurt. So, as you heard in that audio clip, 21 Savage was making some valid points. He wasn’t exactly defending Academics, but he was urging accountability from all sides. Rappers can’t just throw things out there on social media and expect no repercussions. I agree with that sentiment. However, Meek Mill wasn’t having any of it. His beef with Academics runs deep, and it’s personal. He’s not okay with Academics promoting Tekashi, whom he sees as detrimental to the culture. He’s also upset that Academics talks about other Philly rappers who don’t have love for him. Plus, there’s that incident where Academics shared a controversial photo of Meek and his crew with firearms, even though it was originally posted by someone from Meek’s camp. And then there’s the whole issue of Academics not siding with him during the Drake feud. It’s a messy situation, and we’re just scratching the surface here.

“Hey, why are you upset with me?” Meek Mill was caught up in a dispute with Drake, urging me to spread a story alleging Drake’s frustration even before they addressed it publicly. It was like, “Hey, why aren’t you focusing on this?” “We just mentioned he was upset by T.I.’s actions.” I’m thinking, “Honestly, I can’t confirm if this is true.” So, why don’t you guys announce it? Maybe I’ll share it afterward. But they insisted I be the one to disseminate the rumor, sacrificing my credibility to tarnish another rapper’s image. When I refused, they accused me of taking sides. But let’s be real, back then, who knows if any of these claims were true? It just seemed like a bid for attention. They wanted me, in 2015, to suddenly announce, “Breaking news: Drake got upset two years ago. Just stop teasing him.” Meek and everyone in that call, except 21, have all manipulated the media to their advantage and then gotten salty when it didn’t go their way.
You know why everyone’s arguments seem so hypocritical? None of them are saying, “Let’s reinvest in and rebuild our community.” Mike made one song about prison reform, it didn’t do well, so he’s back to the same old lyrics: murder, violence, flaunting wealth. He’s rapping about it, then gets mad when someone like me, an Instagram blogger, posts about it. Am I to blame when you’re the one projecting that imagery? I’ve never hired a photographer to follow you around. I’m just relaying what’s out there. Like that time you posted a photo with guns in the parking lot, who’s responsible for that narrative? Certainly not me.
You were aware I was on probation, understanding the potential consequences of your actions leading to incarceration. I reached out privately, requesting the removal of certain content. Interestingly, Meek Mill independently posted the same content on his own page. In one instance, he acknowledged the risk associated with a photo depicting someone with a firearm, expressing concern about its implications for me. Did I promote the picture? Absolutely not. It’s worth noting that the picture was taken by Meek Mill’s associate. From what’s been said, it’s evident that Meek Mill’s claims are unfounded. Despite attempting to diminish my platform’s significance, why did his team seek coverage from my supposedly insignificant blog regarding false information about Drake? If my platform is truly inconsequential, why the focus solely on me? The issue isn’t as significant as portrayed; it should be dismissed rather than blown out of proportion. However, in my culture, we address issues directly, which you’re aware of. With your relatively modest following, why the disproportionate attention on me? It seems you’re indecisive, vacillating between dismissing my platform and acknowledging its importance. If you dislike my content, why not simply move on? Meek Mill’s fixation on my page, despite minimal coverage of him, is perplexing. Moving on, Tory Lanez attempted to scapegoat me for inciting violence among rappers, only to backtrack and seek reconciliation, recognizing the value of my platform. Unlike Meek’s confrontational approach, Tory’s actions were responsible. I sense a conflation of energies here; my interaction with you doesn’t mirror Meek’s behavior. I’ve always held your platform in high regard, and there’s mutual respect between us. Perhaps there were misunderstandings during our recent interaction, and I’m open to discussing them directly. Ultimately, this entire episode underscores the symbiotic relationship between celebrities and media figures, even if they’re not always openly acknowledged. Despite any personal reservations, they recognize the necessity of platforms like mine for their visibility and influence. Now, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this video. Feel free to like, comment, subscribe, and share your opinions below. Thank you for watching, and until next time, take care!
