Never marry someone who is insecure. Kell, though not quite as small as an elf or a leprechaun, was still of shorter stature and always felt self-conscious about it. He wasn’t happy with his teeth or his eyes, and he had to wear thick, Coke-bottle glasses. He kept all these insecurities inside, things I never knew about him. I thought I had checked all the boxes.
This guy went on Club Shay and just started lying. From all outward appearances, Kell Mitchell and Taisha Hampton had a great relationship. I was acting when I met Kell on the set of Good Burger. They got married in 1999, had two kids, and Kell’s acting career took off. But after a few years, everything fell apart, and they’ve been making messy accusations against each other ever since.
“I ended up marrying my ex-wife because we had another baby. We had an abortion, but then we had another baby. She later told me that the baby we aborted wasn’t mine.” I’m still trying to figure out why people believe this guy’s ridiculous lies. Pregnant by three different men? Come on, Kell, are you okay? No, I was never pregnant, and no, I never cheated on Kell. The kids we have together are his, and he had a DNA test done right away. Because, of course, the first thing a man says when he’s caught doing awful things is that he had a reason for it.
After their son L was born in 1999 and their daughter Allore came along in 2002, Kell’s career really took a hit. His marriage wasn’t doing great either. “I ended up becoming a stay-at-home mom, breastfeeding my kids until they were 3. They never went to daycare or had babysitters—I was always there because Kell was on drugs, and I never knew where he was. Despite everything, I was still producing, writing, and creating storylines for him. But with his drug problems, he stopped working on the shows. He completely changed and got blacklisted by everyone, including the network.”

In 2005, he filed for divorce. Years later, Taisha hinted that it was because of Kell’s infidelity. “When someone claims to be your husband and is supposed to be working on your relationship but is actually cheating and seeing prostitutes, even paying for their apartment without telling you, it’s heartbreaking.” After their divorce, Kell told People magazine he struggled with depression and even had suicidal thoughts. He turned to substances to numb the pain but eventually found solace in his faith. He now says it was his belief in God that got him through those dark times.
By 2012, he had found love again with a woman named Asia Lee. They welcomed a daughter named Wisdom in 2017. In 2019, he became a pastor. “Heavenly Father, fill me with the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. Fill me with the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. I receive it in Jesus’ name. Breathe in, breathe out. I receive it in Jesus’ name. I receive the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. Hallelujah, hallelujah!” In 2020, their son Honor was born, making Kell a father of four. Things seemed to be looking up for him, but trouble was just around the corner.
In March 2021, Taisha reappeared and accused Kell of wrongdoing towards her and their children. In an Instagram post, she declared that she would no longer be a victim and was determined to get everything she was owed. She claimed that Kell wasn’t a man of God because he wasn’t fulfilling his responsibilities. What responsibilities? Taisha alleged that Kell spent $800,000 on a home in 2020 while only earning $630,000, leading to him owing her $1.2 million in child support and back taxes. She even claimed she got locked up because of his debt to the IRS.
Hold on, he owed the IRS money, but she was the one who got locked up? That doesn’t add up. Auntie Regina was born at night, not last night. Stop playing with me! Besides the money issues, Taisha said that after their divorce, Kell sold their family home and left her homeless. She also accused him of mistreating and abandoning their two children.
Wait a minute, girl. Where did y’all even get divorced? At Night Court? Because what judge would let him sell the house and leave you and the kids homeless? I’m seriously confused. In response, Kell posted a picture of a blue cap on Instagram, quoting a Bible verse: “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.”
But Taisha wasn’t done yet. In July 2021, she accused Kell of hitting her during and after their marriage. She also said he financially abused her, committed fraud, and broke several court orders. Plus, she claimed Kell filed a fake domestic suit against her.
In a TikTok post, she shared, “I wanted a divorce and was absolutely done. I wasn’t going to let him cheat on me.” Things got weird in July 2022 when Taisha posted another TikTok. She said, “This was back in 1998, and Kell had cheated on me in New York. I decided to move out and go back to my parents. Some friends called and said, ‘Kell’s threatening to kill himself. Please talk to him one last time.’ So I went to talk to him. I heard sounds like people talking or a TV. I went into the guest bedroom, opened the door, and saw Nick in my full cheerleading uniform, his skinny legs in socks. Kell was partly in bed with a tank top on. I was in shock, but I never thought Nick and Kell were in a relationship or doing anything sexual. That never crossed my mind.”
“That sounds like a straight-up lie, Taisha. If you’re going to lie, at least make it believable. Come up with a different story, girl! By this point, Kell had enough and decided to take it to court. According to Radar Online, he told the judge, ‘Taisha has done everything to drag me through her mess.’ Kell said the divorce was so nasty that he had to declare bankruptcy. He had to start over, rebuild his relationships, and his career from scratch. On top of that, Kell mentioned he spent years and thousands of dollars defending himself against all of Taisha’s lies. What hurt him the most were the accusations of being a bad dad. He said that was far from the truth, pointing out how he bought his kids their first cars and paid for their tuition.”

In August 2022, Taisha and her ex appeared in court. According to Radar Online, Taisha caused a scene, believing the court was conspiring against her. She requested an investigation, but her plea was denied. By December 2022, their daughter Allore sided with Taisha, expressing her frustration that Kell had been absent from her life for the past 10 years.
“My dad wasn’t there for me for 10 years,” Allore said. “He came back into my life when I was 15, but he left when I was five. He wasn’t financially or emotionally supportive. I was homeless, and my family still is. My mom doesn’t have a house because he sold it and left us struggling.”
Allore also claimed that Kell refused to pay for her medical insurance, fearing Taisha would use it for herself. She said, “He thinks my mom is out to get him, but she’s just fighting for what’s owed to her.”
Allore concluded her video by highlighting that Taisha had lost everything, while Kell lived comfortably. “My father lives in a house in the valley,” she added. “Yet, he calls me ungrateful. I never cared about his money; I just needed my dad.”
I really don’t like it when adults drag kids into their personal issues and conflicts. It’s almost always the case that when children live with their mom, they tend to take on her perspective, which is obviously biased. That’s why I strongly believe that children should be shielded from their divorced parents’ problems as much as possible.
Regarding Kell’s response to Allore’s accusations, he didn’t address them publicly. However, The Shade Room somehow got hold of documents showing that back in 2012, Kell attended reunification therapy sessions with Taisha and their children. Apparently, it had been six long years since he’d last seen the kids. These documents also revealed that Kell had been actively trying to secure visitation rights for several years post-split.
So, it seems she was keeping him away from the kids? Well, in February 2023, a judge ruled in Kell’s favor, stating he didn’t owe Taisha any money. The judge pointed out that the $425,000 she received from selling their home covered any overdue payments she might have been expecting. Talk about a dismissal! But unsurprisingly, Taisha wasn’t satisfied with the judge’s decision. Just days later, she insisted that Kell still owed her a hefty $1.9 million. Kell didn’t take this lightly; he demanded that the court throw out all of Taisha’s claims against him. Then, in March 2023, he went a step further by asking the court to fine Taisha $12,300 for continuously spreading false information about him and abusing the legal system.
In May 2024, Kell finally summoned the courage to share his truth. It happened during an episode of Club Shay, where he bravely revealed that Taisha, his ex-wife, had been unfaithful during their marriage, allegedly even having children with multiple men.
Let’s give Kell a round of applause for keeping this painful secret to himself for so long and for not publicly shaming Taisha. He recounted the heartbreaking moment when he found her missing from home, only to discover her in a hotel with an old friend. Despite authorities advising him to leave, Kell admitted to staying, hoping against hope to salvage their family for the sake of their kids.
After enduring years of Taisha’s relentless attacks, Kell had been sitting on this explosive revelation all along. But rather than stooping to her level, he chose the high road, allowing her to continue her social media tirades and courtroom battles without using this damaging information against her.
There’s this juicy rumor floating around that if you mention Taisha’s name three times, she’ll magically appear, almost like Beetlejuice. Taisha, Taisha, Taisha! But let’s not take any chances with that here. So, after Kell made quite the splash on Club Shay, Taisha wasted no time firing back on her socials to set the record straight. “Every time he opens his mouth, I swear, I’m left scratching my head. Like, seriously, what’s even going on, girl? I could shut him down in a heartbeat. Sometimes I wonder if it’s a mental thing, but then again, who knows? He seems to think that playing the victim card is the key to staying relevant, painting this whole picture of being this poor guy whose wife cheated on him, as if that excuses all the crap he put me and our kids through. It’s just wild. He spins these tales that are straight-up bonkers. Sure, he’s still in the industry, but let’s be real, he was just a pawn for a lot of people. He needs to own up to that and find some healing. I remember him telling me once that his darkest moments were tied to some kid he fathered back in his Nickelodeon days.”
But hey, Kell’s got his army of fans rallying behind him non-stop, and he’s feeling the love big time. Taking to Instagram, he poured out his gratitude, saying, “Your support keeps me going strong. I’ll be keeping you all in my prayers, and I hope you’ll do the same for me.”
Do I buy Kell’s side of the story? Absolutely. Or are you Team Taisha? Nah, not a chance. Ain’t happening.
