Every time fans think the beef between Kanye and Drake is over, something happens to reignite the feud, and they start taking shots at each other again. This time, Kanye is calling out Drake for trying to ruin his career. According to Kanye, Drake has been trying to undermine him for years, and now Kanye is finally speaking out, calling Drake an “industry mutt.” Instead of releasing outright diss tracks, Drake prefers to take subtle yet impactful jabs.
Kanye said, “When people went to get Hitler, they didn’t go straight for him; they sent fake tanks. So, Drake is going to do stuff like live five blocks down the street from you, DM the light switch. He’s going to DM everything.” Believe it or not, Kanye and Drake weren’t always enemies. There was a time when Drake admired Kanye. In a 2009 interview with MTV, Drake praised Kanye as a musical genius and called him his biggest musical inspiration.
“Kanye West has had a huge impact on my music. Even before I met him, I had the utmost respect for Kanye. In fact, I’d say he’s the most influential musician in my life.”
But soon, rumors of a feud between them began circulating on social media. It all started when Drake was seen partying at a club with Amber Rose. Amber and Kanye had recently had a messy breakup, so people thought Drake was being shady. Then, a leaked version of Kanye’s “All of the Lights” featuring a scrapped Drake verse appeared, fueling the rumors further. Fans speculated that Kanye removed Drake’s verse out of spite.
Up to this point, everything was just speculation. But then Drake took the first shot by dissing Kanye and Jay-Z in an interview with DJ Tim Westwood. At the time, Drake was working on a joint album with Lil Wayne, and Kanye and Jay-Z were also collaborating on an album. Drake felt annoyed and accused them of copying his idea. “I heard some other guys are coming out with an album too,” he said. “There are two other rappers working on an album together. I don’t know where they got that idea from.”
In a Rolling Stone cover story, Drake called Kanye his competitor, saying he wanted to outdo everything Kanye had accomplished. “I don’t want to be as good as Kanye; I want to be better,” he said.
Kanye, fed up with Drake’s provocations, clapped back during a concert in New Jersey. A year later, Drake took another shot at Kanye in his song “Summer 16,” with the lyrics, “Yay’s pool is nice, mine’s just bigger.” Kanye didn’t respond to this diss and even collaborated with Drake on the song “Glow” in 2017.

Do you see the pattern here? Drake keeps dissing Kanye without much reason, while Kanye rarely responds and often tries to keep the peace. It’s clear Drake is trying to provoke Kanye into a feud, but Kanye isn’t biting.
The situation took a nasty turn when Pusha T, who had been Drake’s rival for a long time, dropped a diss track called “Infrared,” produced by Kanye West. In the song, Pusha accused Drake of barely writing his own raps and relying heavily on ghostwriters. Drake fired back with his own diss track, “Duppy Freestyle,” where he dismissed Pusha as irrelevant and even said he would send him a hundred thousand dollars to help revive his career. To prove his point, Drake posted an invoice on Instagram that read “For professional services rendered, promotional assistance and career reviving,” showing he had indeed sent the money.
Pusha didn’t take this lightly and hit back with a scathing diss track called “The Story of Adidon.” In it, he exposed that Drake had a child with former porn star Sophie Brussaux and had been keeping it a secret. This revelation led to a social media frenzy, with many people calling Drake a deadbeat father. This was definitely not something Drake wanted the public to know, and he was furious. He directed his anger at Kanye first.
You might wonder why Drake blamed Kanye for this. On the HBO show “The Shop,” Drake explained that Kanye was the only person in the industry who knew about his child with Sophie. He believed there was no way Pusha could have known about it unless Kanye told him. “I was in Wyoming. I played him ‘March 14.’ I sent him a picture of my son. I told him I was having trouble with my son’s mother. We had a conversation. I shared my…”
Kanye fired back at the accusation during an interview, vehemently denying ever informing Pusha T about Drake’s child. “People are speculating where Pusha T got the intel for his diss track,” Kanye expressed. “But don’t drag me into this conversation. I’ve got way more important things going on than gossiping about Drake. I don’t waste my time on that. Honestly, it’s not that big of a deal to me.”
Just when the drama seemed to be simmering down, it took a turn for the worse. Social media was abuzz with rumors of Drake allegedly having an affair with Kanye’s then-wife, Kim Kardashian. The speculation gained traction when fans speculated that Drake was referencing Kim in his song “In My Feelings” with the line, “Kiki, do you love me?” For those unaware, “Kiki” is Kim’s nickname. Kanye was livid about these insinuations and took to Instagram Live to confront Drake for dragging his wife into their feud.

“I’m not okay with people spreading rumors or insinuating that you’ve been involved with my wife, and you’re staying silent,” Kanye vented. “If I had a girlfriend from Chicago named Renita, and you were married to Rihanna, I wouldn’t dare release a song titled ‘Riri.’ So when you act clueless about where this comes from, you’re playing dumb, bro. You know exactly what’s up. Don’t drop tracks with content that’s open to misinterpretation. I already told you, I never spilled any beans to Pusha about your baby mama. That’s not on me.”
This marked the first time Kanye publicly called out Drake since their feud ignited. It’s clear he’d had enough of Drake’s constant digs. Besides his heated Instagram rant, Kanye took to Twitter to continue the barrage, sharing a screenshot from a producer asking about clearing Drake’s sample request for “Say What’s Real,” captioning it, “This is faker than wrestling.” He didn’t stop there, unleashing a series of tweets venting about Drake’s elusive behavior and alleged indirect disses on Travis Scott’s tracks. Kanye demanded direct apologies from Drake, bypassing intermediaries like Scooter Braun or Travis. Returning to Twitter, Kanye accused Drake of threatening his family, cautioning him against any harm to them.
“Drake called, trying to intimidate me. So, Drake, if anything happens to me or my family, you’re the first suspect. So, drop the tough talk.” Just when it seemed Drake had moved on from diss tracks, he reignited the feud with his album “Certified Lover Boy.” Drake’s album didn’t go unnoticed for its shots at Kanye, notably in the track “7am on Bridle Path,” where he portrays Kanye as jealous and desperate.
But that wasn’t even the craziest part. Remember when Drake dropped hints about him and Kim getting together? He did it again in another track called “Pipe Down,” with lines like, “Why does your ex think we’re beefing? Is that guy okay? He can’t even look at me; he’s fallen off twice.” Anyone who’s followed Kanye knows Kim is a sore spot for him, and Drake knows it too well. That’s why he keeps bringing her up to taunt him. Kanye recently called out Drake for being a snake in the industry, always trying to mess with his career.
“I’ve been wanting to sit down with Drake and talk man to man, as someone who’s been in the game longer, to reconcile things.” Responding to this, one person said, “Drake’s just a performer shielded by powerful folks in the music biz. He’s tailored to fit the mainstream rapper mold, making money for others. All his music leans towards pop. He’s not a true hip-hop artist; he’s just a front to sell records. He doesn’t even write his own stuff.”
Another person added, “If Drake ever reaches Kanye’s level, Kanye will have already achieved so much more that Drake won’t even know where to look.” It’s clear people aren’t happy with Drake going after Kanye, and they’re not afraid to say it. But I want to hear your thoughts now. How do you feel about Drake dissing Kanye and trying to mess with his career? And what do you make of Kanye exposing Drake’s ties to Hollywood?
