Tank recently stirred the pot by claiming that Chris Brown is better than Michael Jackson. He argues that Chris Brown not only has superior vocal skills but also excels in songwriting, producing, and dancing. According to Tank, while Michael Jackson’s success involved many talented people, Chris Brown handles his career entirely on his own, from the studio to the stage, despite facing numerous challenges.

While it’s clear Tank has immense respect for Chris Brown, comparing him to Michael Jackson is a tough sell. Michael Jackson’s impact on music and pop culture is legendary—his influence is unmatched. Chris Brown is certainly a major talent of his generation, but suggesting he surpasses Jackson might be a bit of a stretch given Jackson’s extraordinary legacy.
It’s interesting how Michael Jackson is often used as the comparison point for so many artists. It really shows that he set the bar incredibly high. For example, saying Chris Brown sings better than Michael Jackson is a tough claim—especially since Michael was a phenomenal talent even as a child. I’m not trying to downplay Chris Brown’s skills. He’s definitely got a strong voice and has improved a lot over the years, but I don’t agree with Tank that he’s a better singer than Michael.

Tank also mentioned that Chris Brown is a better producer. While Chris Brown does have some production chops, let’s not forget that Michael Jackson was not only an extraordinary performer but also a master producer and songwriter. He wrote and produced huge hits like “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” “Smooth Criminal,” and “Remember the Time” (the last one with Teddy Riley). Michael was deeply involved in crafting his music and collaborated with his brothers in The Jacksons too.

When it comes to dancing, Chris Brown is a fantastic dancer, and you could argue he’s even on Michael’s level or maybe even better in some respects. Chris tends to lean more into acrobatics and breakdancing, while Michael was known for his precise, technical moves. Both are incredible in their own ways, and some might think Chris is better, which is a valid point. However, Michael Jackson revolutionized dance, and without him, we might not have the Chris Brown we see today. A lot of Chris’s moves are inspired by Michael’s groundbreaking style.
Michael Jackson didn’t just change dance; he revolutionized music videos. He was the first to make full-fledged movies for his music and to partner with brands like Pepsi, opening doors for other artists to score big endorsements. He holds the record for the most sales in pop music history and set new standards with his stadium tours. His music is not only fun and timeless but also covers uplifting and socially significant themes. So, saying Chris Brown is better than Michael Jackson is a huge leap. That said, I have to give Chris Brown his due—he’s been remarkably consistent and a fantastic entertainer. His career might have soared even higher if not for the incident with Rihanna.

If I were to create a “Mount Rushmore” of entertainers from the past 20 years, I’d definitely include Chris Brown alongside Usher, Beyoncé, and Bruno Mars. This doesn’t mean I think he’s better than them, but he deserves a spot in that conversation. However, let’s not forget that Michael Jackson paved the way for artists like Chris Brown. He broke down barriers, set new standards, and created a blueprint that continues to influence the industry.

So, let’s avoid comparing anyone directly to Michael Jackson. Every artist has their own greatness, and comparing the student to the teacher doesn’t really do justice to either.

Keke Palmer and her ex Darius seem to be getting along better these days after all the drama last year. You might remember that Keke accused Darius of physical abuse and even got a temporary restraining order against him. She also shared some photos that looked like he was manhandling her. We didn’t see the actual video, but those images definitely raised a lot of concerns.

As things unfolded, we learned more about what was really going on between them. Darius released a phone call he recorded with Keke’s mother, where she went off on him. It sounded like Darius was just there to pick up their son, but Keke’s mom was furious, accusing him of harassment and criticizing him for commenting on Keke’s outfit at an Usher concert. The recording painted a picture of a relationship filled with tension and drama on both sides.

Here’s a snippet from that call:

“You have no idea who you’re dealing with. I try to be nice, but you’ve harassed my daughter and even had the nerve to talk about what she wore at the Usher concert. Usher is gay, and you’re telling her to cover up? You’re just being ridiculous. She’s a mom, but she still has the right to dress how she wants. You’re the one causing all this chaos and harassing my family. Where’s my son? It’s football Sunday. You don’t even have a real family.”

They have nothing to do with this. Nothing at all.

This is about harassment, and it’s connected to your father’s behavior. Your grandmother told me that your mom is unstable. We’ve never been able to handle things with her properly. I don’t understand why my son stayed with her; she’s clearly problematic. If Darius is listening to her, he should be ashamed. Your grandmother also mentioned that your mom was unstable and suggested that if you want to listen to her, Keke should move on. Keke is a fantastic person, and Darius should count himself lucky to have her. If you don’t think highly of Keke, then why don’t you find someone else? Why are you bothering my daughter and my son? Why are you harassing me? Where is my son? That’s all I’m asking. I’m not here for her. There’s something seriously wrong with your mind. It’s not normal. You sound like you’re mentally unwell and need to see someone because you’re off-balance. I haven’t done anything to warrant this. People have been through worse, and I’ve put up with a lot from you without reacting poorly. I don’t call you names or do things like that. Yet, you have these outbursts and then harass me for hours.

This is just a snippet of what happened in that recording, and it was overwhelming. Darius also shared some text messages between him and Keke. In those texts, Keke admitted to hitting him. She said, “I’m sorry for hitting you. I’m sorry for letting my fear and desperation get the best of me. That wasn’t the best version of me, and I regret it. I’m really upset about everything and the emotional burden I’m carrying. It’s not your fault or responsibility. I need to think about this. I hate feeling so exposed. I’m just sad and sorry for sending so many messages.”
In this update, Keke was really opening up and taking responsibility for her part in things. But it also showed that despite the issues in their relationship, she genuinely wanted to be with him. It’s clear that the relationship was complicated and not the healthiest. It wasn’t just Darius who had a temper—Keke admitted she did too. Their relationship had its fair share of ups and downs.

Now, it looks like they might be back together. Some people think they’re just co-parenting, but it doesn’t quite seem that way. Darius even posted a story calling Keke “his folk,” which sounds like he’s claiming her again. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve rekindled their romance.

There’s also talk that Keke might be expecting their second child, given her slight belly in a recent photo. I’m hesitant to speculate about pregnancies because I’ve been wrong before. But if she is pregnant, that could explain why they’re getting along better. Sometimes a baby can bring people back together temporarily. However, a baby alone won’t fix things long-term. They need a stable relationship to make it work.

I really hope they’re getting the help they need to move forward in a healthy way. I’d hate to see them fall back into the same patterns. Is that too much to hope for? I’m not sure.
