What club am I talking about? I’m talking about the club of gatekeepers that we all have to deal with. Initially, I didn’t like him because Sean and I were very different. I was very family-oriented, and that’s how I was raised. But once I got to know him, we became friends first, and then we developed a strong bond.
The jurors also wanted to hear a readback of testimony related to Coles’s former girlfriend, actress-singer Jennifer Lopez, who was in the Navigator when it was stopped by police. An officer testified that everyone in the SUV was ordered to put their hands on the vehicle, but Lopez walked away, saying she was going home. It’s been a tough year for JLo. First, her movie flopped, then she faced criticism on TikTok for her bronzer obsession, and now there are rumors that Diddy might spill the beans about that ’99 incident she’s been trying to keep under wraps.
Apparently, JLo’s former co-star from “Anaconda,” Ice Cube, has some thoughts on the matter. Word is that Ice warned JLo to get her story straight about that ’99 incident because the feds might reopen the case, and she could be called to testify. A woman who claims Diddy hit her in the face that night recently spoke out, saying she’ll cooperate with the feds if the case is reopened. She also mentioned that Diddy openly bragged about using JLo to smuggle the weapon into the club where the shooting happened.
What’s next for JLo? Is she really getting tangled up in Diddy’s latest legal issues with the feds? And will she follow Ice Cube’s advice and testify against Diddy this time? Let’s break it down.
When she was detained, a gun was found in the vehicle. A sergeant on the scene ordered everyone in the car to be arrested. An officer quoted Lopez saying, “It’s not mine.”
JLo’s relationship with Diddy is back in the spotlight due to some old drama from 1999. Remember when Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones filed a lawsuit against Diddy in February, accusing him of running a RICO enterprise? Well, Lil Rod recently updated the lawsuit with new details about that 1999 nightclub incident that led to both Diddy and JLo getting arrested.
According to Lil Rod, Diddy admitted to being involved in a shooting and allegedly bragged that JLo handed him the gun. The incident happened on December 27, 1999, when Diddy, JLo, and Bad Boy artist Shyne were partying at Club New York in Midtown. Things escalated when Diddy allegedly spilled a drink on Matthew Allen, aka Scar, a Brooklyn ex-con with a bad temper. Scar retaliated by throwing cash in Diddy’s face and mocking his spending habits. Tempers flared, shots were fired, and chaos broke out. Eyewitnesses claimed they saw Diddy in the mix, and three people were injured, including a woman who was shot in the face.

Diddy and JLo quickly left in his Lincoln Navigator but were pulled over shortly after for running a red light. Police found a stolen 9mm handgun in the trunk. Both were arrested, and JLo spent 14 hours in custody, reportedly crying the whole time. The charges against JLo were soon dropped, and she cooperated with investigators, consistently denying any involvement in the shooting.
Diddy, Shyne, and Diddy’s bodyguard Wolf went to trial on gun charges. Shyne ended up with a 10-year prison sentence, but Diddy and Wolf were acquitted. Diddy had a powerhouse legal team, including Johnny Cochran and Benjamin Brafman, who argued that Diddy acted in self-defense. Witnesses claimed they didn’t see Diddy fire any shots. Rumors later suggested that Diddy pressured witnesses to testify against Shyne, according to Diddy’s former bodyguard Gene Deal.
You didn’t hear this from me, but Shyne mentioned in his interview, “You were supposed to be my brother, and you got people testifying against me.” Those witnesses went to Puff first, talking about what they saw Shyne do.
Right after that incident, JLo dumped Diddy and hasn’t dated a rapper since. Did Diddy text her? Does he still try to reach out? He probably does, it’s Puff! But no, she said no. Has Diddy ruined it for black guys or just hip-hop guys? Is she now thinking, “I’m done with black hip-hop guys forever”? Honestly, I’m a bit off musicians too, so I get it.
JLo worked hard to rebrand herself and distance from the gangster image she had with Diddy. Soon after breaking up with him, she started dating Ben Affleck. JLo has always been reluctant to discuss her relationship with Diddy, never mentioning the incident that got her jailed.
Recently, Access Hollywood caught up with Diddy, who had nice things to say about JLo and her judging on the show. He said, “The way she’s handled everything, she’s been so compassionate, it made me cry twice.” He’s set to be a mentor on the show, aiming to guide the kids properly. Asked for advice on his appearance, she said, “No, he knows what he’s doing. I don’t have anything to add.” Regarding his kind words, she responded, “It’s nice, sweet.”
However, all the effort JLo put into distancing herself from the Diddy saga seems to be unraveling. Last month, Diddy’s former producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones amended his lawsuit against Diddy, alleging that Diddy admitted responsibility for the nightclub shooting in New York City, with Shyne involved, and that Jennifer carried the firearm into the club, passing it to Diddy after the altercation.
Meanwhile, the woman shot in the face during the incident has now spoken out, claiming she has been saying for 24 years that Diddy was the shooter, but no one believed her, accusing her of lying. Natanya Rubin, one of the three victims of the club shooting, discussed Lil Rod’s lawsuit and reiterated that Diddy was the one who shot her. She also referenced Cassie’s lawsuit against Diddy, where Cassie claimed he made her carry a handgun in her purse, indicating this behavior has been Diddy’s pattern since the ’90s.
Cassie shared that Puffy forced her to carry his gun into nightclubs and wherever they went, using threats to make her comply. Among many significant details in this case, the one that stands out involves the young producer Lil Rod, who, along with Cassie, was sexually assaulted and threatened by Puffy. In the lawsuit, Lil Rod recalled a chilling threat from Puffy: “That’s why I messed up the club in New York back in 1999 and let Shyne take the fall for it.” This struck a chord with me because I am the woman who was shot in the face at Club New York on December 27, 1999. I’ve been telling people for years that Diddy shot me, and even the surgeon who removed the bullet fragments from my face testified that I told the hospital staff Diddy was the shooter.

“I have consistently told everyone since then, including the surgeon who operated on me to remove the bullet fragments from my face. It was a 9mm hollow-point bullet. I have never changed my story. I watched him shoot me. I got shot in the face. I saw him fire the gun. I’ve said it all along. The surgeon testified in the criminal trial that while they were putting me under, I was screaming ‘Puffy shot me in the face.’ His testimony is part of the court record. They all knew he did it.”
Natanya also revealed that Diddy paid off several people, including the club owner, to hide the security footage of the incident. “He paid off the club bouncer named Sharice and others, including the club owners, to hide the video. That’s his MO. I have told everyone that this man nearly took my life, traumatized me, caused irreparable damage, and lied about it.”
To make matters worse, Natanya shared that long before the lawsuits against Diddy began, she had spent over two decades dealing with online trolls that he sent to harass her. “I’ve had young people on the internet harassing me, claiming I made it up, saying he didn’t do it. Look at what he did to Lil Rod. He threatened him, saying, ‘You don’t think I bust my gun? I shot up the club in New York and let Shyne take the fall. I shot people.’ It took 24 years for this to come out. This tattoo is from when I got shot. I’ve been saying it all along, but people pick and choose who they want to believe. He shot me in the face and has harassed me for the past 24 years.”
But it wasn’t just online harassment. Natanya claimed that Diddy went as far as sending people to sabotage her car, repeatedly blowing out her tires. “In 2017 and 2018, I got seven flats on my BMW. Seven times, the same tire. They were all new tires. Every time, I had to get a new one. I have pictures to prove it.”
Natanya explained that Diddy did all this because she was the only one, before Cassie, who successfully sued him and made him pay. “Before Cassie, I was the only one who successfully sued him and got paid. He had to pay me out of his pocket. He has never gotten over that.”
Despite everything, Natanya is still fighting for justice. She vows not to rest until Diddy is punished for all the pain and suffering he caused her and her family. “This RICO charge that’s coming, for conspiring and shooting up the club and ruining my life? As God is my witness, I will not stop until you suffer every bit of punishment. Until I have every second of recompense for every tear I and my children cried, I will not stop until you pay the price for what you did to my life.”
Regarding JLo, Natanya believes she should also be held accountable if Diddy faces a RICO charge. In a recent interview with NewsNation, Natanya said she hopes Diddy and others arrested that night will be held responsible. “While I was fighting for my life on the operating table, they had already held Miss Lopez and let her go, dropping her charges after about an hour. This is ridiculous.”
Reports suggest that JLo’s former co-star Ice Cube has warned her to cooperate with the feds because of the serious RICO charges against Diddy. Some fans are criticizing JLo for staying silent and not warning others about Diddy. One fan said, “The fact that she knew and did nothing speaks loudly about her.” Others believe it’s unfair to blame JLo, suggesting she was probably terrified of Diddy. One fan said, “Leave her alone and any other woman who dealt with that madman. I’m scared just hearing about it.”
