So I’m lying in bed with Pooky, and he comes over saying, “I’ve got a new song to show you.” He plays me his verse, and I’m like, “What the…?” Not only did he just admit he’s cheating, but he also detailed how I was there, knee-deep in the comments, wondering if we were still together. Imagine breaking up with your boyfriend one night, and the next day he’s hanging out with Ice Spice and flaunting Chrome Hearts.

Ice Spice used to be everyone’s favorite rapper until she started releasing music with crude lyrics. Now, she’s pulling a big PR stunt to bring down another rapper and ruin his relationship at another girl’s expense. Ice Spice is really embarrassing herself right now, so let’s get into it.

Not too long ago, everyone loved Ice Spice, but it seems her downfall is her own doing. This involves another rapper named Central C, who was in a relationship with someone named Mateline, and now Ice Spice is caught up in a cheating scandal.

I’ve been a fan of Ice Spice’s music to some extent. But lately, her songs are filled with bizarre and gross content. Singing about things like poop and farting, and then twerking, isn’t something I want to dance to. It’s getting hard to enjoy her music when the lyrics are so off-putting.
So, let’s talk about Mateline and Central C. They started dating in 2022 and stayed together until September 2023. But then, in June, they were seen vacationing together in Nigeria, which made people think they might be getting back together. However, things took a turn in early July when Central C was spotted shopping with Ice Spice, sparking rumors that they were dating.

At first, I thought this might just be a promotional stunt for a collaboration. But Ice Spice seemed to be enjoying her time in London because, two days later, on July 6th, they were seen out together again. Someone posted a video on Twitter showing Ice Spice and Central C at a lounge in London, with the caption, “Ice Spice and Central C are spotted together in a lounge in London. They might be dating.”

Then, by July 12th, it all started to make sense. They released a song together called “Did It First,” which is part of Ice Spice’s Y2K album and features Central C. The music video, filmed in London, is full of cheating references and shows them in intimate scenes, rapping about cheating on their partners. This got people wondering if Central C was talking about cheating on Mateline.

That same day, Mateline took to TikTok to share her side of the story in a five-part video series. She said, “Imagine breaking up with your boyfriend one night, and the next day he’s with Ice Spice and Chrome Hearts. I didn’t even get to break up with him; he was already with the next girl.” Mateline explained that all the videos of Ice Spice and Central C in London were taken around her birthday on July 7th. She only found out about the promo for “Did It First” 12 hours before the video came out, so she had no idea this was happening.
Let’s react to Mateline’s side of the story. A couple of months ago, I was lying in bed with Pooky when he told me he had a new song to share. I was excited and ready to hear it, thinking he was going to serenade me with some beautiful poetry. But when he played his verse, I was stunned. Not only did he basically admit to cheating, but he also detailed exactly how he did it.

I demanded, “Give me your phone.” He tried to brush it off, saying it was just marketing, and since I understand how the internet works, I let it go. Some time later, he mentioned wanting to hire an influencer to do a lip-sync video to one of his older songs, and I thought, “Okay, that makes sense.” Then he said he was going to send her a car because she asked for one, and I thought, “Alright, that also makes sense.” What he didn’t tell me was that he was sending his personal car to her, sparking dating rumors. I was right there with everyone else in the comments, wondering if we were still together.

So, Central C writes this verse, plays it for his girlfriend, who gets suspicious right away and asks for his phone. They have it out, and then he tries to spin it into a PR relationship with Ice Spice, at her expense.

I called my team, and they were like, “Mateline, he just started a dating rumor with another girl. Aren’t you supposed to be going to Nigeria with him in two days?” On July 1st, he was begging to see me, saying it had to be that exact day. I was busy with a friend, but he called me at 11 p.m., insisting, “I need to see you tonight.” I asked, “Why are you so desperate?” And he replied, “Because you need to remember that I’m a human being when you see what you’re going to see tomorrow.”
Imagine this: you have a conversation with your boyfriend about your relationship, and barely 10 hours later, he’s out with another girl. That’s what happened to me. We didn’t even officially break up, and the next day, he’s already posting pictures with Ice Spice, flaunting their time together in Chrome Hearts. He didn’t even give me 12 hours’ notice before being seen with her.

There’s a serious lack of communication. If you’re an artist like Central C trying to navigate this world, you need to keep your partner in the loop. Four days before my birthday, he commented “trouble” on one of Ice Spice’s Instagram posts. To make things worse, my birthday was just four days away.

When I saw him commenting on her posts, I was furious. I considered posting a screenshot on my story. I thought he would at least let me have my birthday week. But then, on July 6th, I saw them at the club together. My birthday was the next day, July 7th.

Fans quickly saw through this PR stunt. People on TikTok called them out, saying they were doing this just to spark engagement. It’s also not cool that he’s putting me through this. On July 12th, Central C joined Ice Spice on stage for their song “Did It First.”

First on Instagram, Ice Spice shared a snap of them together in a recent photo dump. Many fans were unhappy, writing comments like, “Mateline is everything you’ll never be,” and “Bye, you literally home-wrecked a relationship.” Since this is an Ice Spice song, I suspect her team coordinated the entire event, and Central C just went along with it, which he didn’t need to do.

On July 19th, Mateline opened up about being used in a PR stunt on her “Pretty Lonesome” podcast. She called out Central C, saying he publicly humiliated her by using her as a pawn for his publicity. She admitted that she almost deleted all her social media after the drama, but a friend’s support encouraged her to do the opposite and stand her ground.

“I want everyone to laugh at this because I have been. This week, I’ve laughed harder than ever,” Mateline said. “But making this podcast and those TikToks is tough because, as crazy as it sounds, I’m fresh out of that relationship. It lasted almost three years, and I’m still very attached. I won’t go back to him, I promise, but it’s hard knowing that what I’m doing might make him feel bad. I have to remember that he doesn’t think about me that way.”

Despite her resolve to call him out for his actions, it seems like Ice Spice is enjoying Mateline’s distress. On July 22nd, Ice Spice posted a TikTok video of herself doing push-ups on a private plane, captioned, “Mood after taking your man.” The video, meant to taunt, just comes off as cringy, with some viewers noting she appears to have a wedgie.

Mateline herself commented on the video with a simple, “Why?” reflecting the sentiments of many. Other comments included: “Y’all nasty,” “Mateline all day,” and “The caption is mad.” One user wrote, “Mateline is being a girl’s girl defending you, and you’re proving her wrong, showing that you need to flaunt your body for validation.”

So, after all the drama, we found out that Ice Spice told Rolling Stone that her relationship with Central C is strictly platonic. She said, “We’re just twins,” which seems pretty random. Then, on July 25th, 2024, Central C dropped a track called “Jin Z Love.” On her podcast, Mateline talked about the song, saying, “People thought it was an apology song because it’s obviously about me. But it’s not new. I heard it months ago and loved it back then. It’s just being released now, but it was written a while ago.”

Mateline also pointed out that the notes app used as the visual for the track shows a date of July 14th, making it seem like the song was written recently. This seems like a ploy to keep her in the narrative, but she’s clearing things up, probably causing Central C some frustration.

In the song, Central C talks about his feelings for Mateline and how love can bloom in the internet age. He uses terms like “ick” and describes how an Instagram follow led him to find the love of his life. This ties into his relationship with Mateline, suggesting smart timing for its release. It makes me wonder who is behind these stories and how they’ll respond now that Mateline is speaking out.

For Ice Spice, this isn’t a great look. She’s connected with Nicki Minaj, who’s been in some messy situations lately. Ice Spice herself is coming off as a bit messy too. I really hope we don’t see songs with even more controversial themes.

Anyway, I hope you found this video interesting. See you in the next one. Bye, guys!
