Erica Mina and Safari have found themselves in the midst of controversy yet again, following Erica’s public criticism of Safari’s continued fixation on Nicki Minaj. Erica recently accused Safari of neglecting his parental duties, claiming he spends more time focused on Nicki than on their children. Sources close to the couple revealed that Safari’s frequent mentions of Nicki in interviews have exacerbated tensions in their relationship.
“Safari keeps bringing up Nicki in every interview, which really bothers Erica, especially given her long-standing dislike for Nicki,” a source shared. The latest drama unfolded after Safari discussed his past challenges during an appearance on the “Wei in Miami” podcast. He opened up about facing career obstacles after his breakup with Nicki, particularly when she started dating Meek Mill. This period made it tough for him to collaborate with others without risking backlash.
The incident has once again put Erica and Safari in the spotlight, highlighting deeper issues in their marriage and sparking discussions about Safari’s priorities and their impact on their family.
“Have you ever faced a major hurdle you had to overcome? Let me be real about it. When Nikki and I split, her fans and others wanted me to fade away. But here I am, 9 or 10 years later, with numerous TV shows, music releases, success, and a stable life. Despite that, some folks weren’t thrilled. During Nikki and Meek Mill’s prime, the industry turned against me. It was a tough time; no one wanted to collaborate with me. It really tested me.”

She accused Safari of only playing the father when he wanted to flaunt their children on Instagram to make it seem like he was involved in their lives. Erica posted a picture of their son with his hair undone, claiming Safari hadn’t bothered to fix it despite having had the kids over for the weekend. She pointed out that Safari takes great care of his own appearance but neglects their children’s basic needs.
According to Erica, Safari deliberately ignores their children to provoke her because he knows how seriously she takes their well-being. She accused Safari of only showing up for occasional photo ops with the kids, such as at Legend’s recent birthday, without contributing financially or taking responsibility as a parent. She questioned why Safari couldn’t care for their children as diligently as he cares for his own appearance.

Honestly, it’s hard to blame Erica for speaking out. As I mentioned earlier, Erica has never really been a fan of Nicki. In fact, she’s had an ongoing one-sided feud with her ever since she started dating Safari. Before her relationship with Safari, she was actually a big supporter of Nicki. Back in 2012, she was tweeting about being a fan and calling Nicki a boss, even accusing Lil Kim of being jealous. In one tweet she said, ‘I’m proud of my team for taking a stand. Enough is enough. I’ve put in my work, respect me @NickiMinaj. Yo, Nicki, Kim is angry. LOL. Let’s make her cry Friday night. B, you’re not even verified, get in back of the line.’ All in my Nicki Minaj voice, LOL. As you can see, Erica was a big fan and would say anything to get Nicki’s attention.”
“However, things changed after Nicki and Safari broke up in 2014 and Erica and Safari began dating. During an interview with Lil Kim on 106 and Park, Erica hinted that some artists were copying Lil Kim’s style, and she mentioned Nicki as one of them, clearly trying to provoke a response. Despite this, Nicki kept her cool and didn’t engage. In 2018, Erica took another jab at Nicki after Cardi B’s altercation with Nicki at the Harper’s Bazaar after-party, posting a shady message aimed at Nicki. And it didn’t stop there. In 2019, during an interview with Nessa Diab, Erica was asked about her opinion on Nicki’s music, knowing full well Erica’s feelings toward Nicki. Erica didn’t hold back and once again accused Nicki of copying Lil Kim, claiming she doesn’t even listen to Nicki’s music.”
