Hello, everyone! Welcome to my review of Kendrick Lamar’s. Kendrick dropped a video for his classic diss track aimed at Drake, and I can’t stop laughing at it. It’s so unbelievable. He performed the song five times in a row on June 4th at his pop-up celebration. I missed it because I was away, but that concert sounded wild. Now, he released the music video on July 4th, so he dissed Drake on both holidays. Kendrick’s level of pettiness is off the charts, but I love it.

What sets Kendrick apart from other rappers is that he’s not just a great lyricist and rapper—he’s a phenomenal hip-hop artist and a visual creative genius. Everything in the video is super intentional and flawlessly executed. The references to West Coast culture and rap were brilliant, and the dancing was incredible. I especially enjoyed those segments because people were dancing to a song where Drake was getting dissed left and right. It was so unserious yet so diabolical. But Drake asked for it. He taunted Kendrick when he was quiet, telling him to drop, drop, drop. And Kendrick did—and now he won’t stop. He even previewed another song, possibly produced by DJ Mustard, and I’m excited to hear it in full.
The video was just so funny and full of hilarious moments. There was this scene where Kendrick was beating up a piñata shaped like an owl. If you know, Drake uses the owl as a symbol for his OVO company. Kendrick even added a joke: “No owls were harmed during the making of this video.” Also, Kendrick referenced this video in a way that was so random but funny: “Whack its gear, whack his jewelry, whack his foots whack, the way that he talks, whack.” This took me back to when Kendrick once said, “I hate the way you walk, the way you talk, the way you dress.” The whole video felt like that line came to life. And then, when Kendrick rapped about Drake messing with a minor, he had the nerve to be hopscotching. Hopscotch is a children’s game. That was just crazy, crazy, crazy!

Kendrick also brought out his fiancée Whitney and their kids, and they were dancing while Drake was getting roasted. This was especially wild because Drake had claimed Kendrick and Whitney weren’t together. He even said Kendrick had hit Whitney and had her scared. Drake also accused Whitney of having a baby with Kendrick’s friend and collaborator, Dave Free. It turned out none of that was true. Kendrick debunked all those claims with this video. Whitney and the kids were there dancing, and Dave Free directed the video. Finally, Kendrick ended the video by putting the owl in a cage, representing him locking up Drake and humbling him. It reminded me of Maya Angelou’s “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.” Basically, Kendrick was saying, “Stick to singing, Drake. Stick to singing.”

Drake is feeling the pressure from Kendrick Lamar’s diss, having taken a significant loss in this battle. It’s a huge setback for him. However, I don’t think this marks the end of Drake’s career. This just isn’t his season, and he might need to take a break this summer. A hiatus would do him good, despite his commitments with Universal Music Group and Apple Music. Right now isn’t the best time for him to release new music; stepping back would let his fans miss him.

Moreover, Drake needs to rethink how he operates in the industry. It seems he’s burned quite a few bridges, with rumors of shady business deals that left some collaborators feeling betrayed. His assertive use of power hasn’t gone over well with his peers, tainting his reputation. As a result, he can’t work with many of them anymore. Drake will need to change his approach, and he’s likely already planning his next steps.

I recently saw Drake at Mike Rubin’s Masonic White Party, and he didn’t look his best. He seemed a bit haggard, and though he’s lost weight, it seems to be more than just that. It looks like Drake has been struggling, losing sleep, and not handling this recent setback well. He should probably take some time to lay low and regroup. Despite trying to appear unbothered, it’s clear that he’s having a tough time, especially with accusations of being a PDF. It’s a serious and unfounded claim, and while Drake could sue, it might make him look bad considering his own past accusations against Kendrick.

In the midst of all this, it might be best for Drake to step back until the situation calms down. Once things settle, his fans will embrace him again. Right now, it’s Kendrick’s time. He’s set to drop a new album and is making significant moves independently, showcasing smart business acumen. It’s commendable how Kendrick is capitalizing on this moment.
Anyway, moving on. Tia Mowry recently shared some messy details about a date she went on with a male celebrity. She didn’t reveal his name, but people are trying to piece together clues to figure it out.

“I decided to go on this date with a guy. We agreed to meet at a restaurant, and I thought, ‘What could go wrong?’ I knew what he looked like beforehand, but telling this story gives me PTSD,” Tia explained.

“When he showed up, he was a lot shorter than I expected. That was interesting, but no big deal. The real shocker was that he came to dinner wearing a grill. As he sat down to order, I couldn’t stop wondering, ‘Where is he going to put that grill?’ He ordered drinks and food, and the whole time, I was just trying to figure out where he’d place the grill while eating.”
So, our food finally arrives, and I’m sitting there thinking, “Where is this grill going to go?” I couldn’t believe it when he took it out of his mouth and put it right on the table. I mean, seriously? At least he used a napkin, but still, come on! How old are we? It was just so surprising and a bit tasteless. Gross, you know? Especially on a first date where first impressions matter. And there he was, just putting his grill on the table while we ate.

As we’re eating, all I could think was how much I wished this was a speed date so I could just leave. But no, it was a full dinner that felt like it went on forever. Girls, am I overreacting? Is it normal to put a grill on the table? After that, I started noticing more people wearing grills. Am I out of touch? Would you ever see me with a grill?

Tia is hilarious to me. Some people think she’s silly, but I love her TikToks. I was trying to figure out who she was talking about in one of her posts. I have no idea, but I did see her with R&B artist Lucky Day.
“Shout out to Lucky Daye! He’s an incredible artist, and I absolutely love his music. His new album, ‘Algorithm,’ is flawless from start to finish. The production is top-notch, and I adore everything about it. He’s truly a great artist.

I saw Tia at his album release party, and they seemed pretty cozy. I’m not jumping to any romantic conclusions, though. They could just be friends, or maybe she was there to support him or was invited by a company—who knows? But seeing them together made me wonder if Lucky Daye is the guy she mentioned. She did say the guy wore a grill, and Lucky Daye has been seen wearing grills before. However, she also mentioned that the guy was shorter than she expected, and Lucky Daye doesn’t seem that short to me. So, I’m not sure if she was talking about him, but it would be quite amusing if she was.

Anyway, let me know your thoughts about this video in the comments below.
