He croons. He spits verses. Some folks find him strikingly handsome. Currently reigning atop the music charts, his talent undeniable. Yet, perhaps fame’s glare has clouded his judgment, leading him to disrespect a seasoned icon. The rift between Drake and Kendrick appears to run deeper than anticipated. Rumors suggest Drake harbors an intense aversion toward black women, evident in his frequent attacks on any who dare cross his path. What’s more astonishing is Wendy Williams’ prior warning about Drake’s treatment of black women. Initially dismissed as tabloid fodder, Williams may have been ahead of the curve, her insights now manifesting in real-time. Say what you will about Wendy Williams, but she’s rarely off the mark. She was among the first to shed light on Diddy’s clandestine activities, though initially met with skepticism. Now, her assertions about Drake’s animosity towards black women ring true. It’s almost as if she possesses a sixth sense.

As many of you are probably aware, Drake and Kendrick are currently embroiled in a heated rap feud, and things aren’t going too well for Drake. This feud actually began over ten years ago, but it escalated when Kendrick dissed Drake on his verse in the Metro Boomin and Future track “Like That.” Drake, feeling some type of way, responded with two diss tracks, “Push-ups” and “Tailor-made Freestyle.” Kendrick countered with a barrage of four diss tracks in quick succession: “Euphoria 616,” “In La,” “Meet the Grams,” and “Not Like Us.” In these tracks, Kendrick accused Drake of various things, from cosmetic procedures to jealousy, selfishness, involvement with minors, cultural appropriation, and even hiding his children. Drake tried to hit back, alleging that Kendrick had been violent towards his fiancée and fathered a child who wasn’t his own. However, none of Drake’s disses seemed to land, and it became evident that Kendrick had emerged victorious from this battle.

Kendrick continuously applied pressure on Drake, not relenting in his efforts. However, one statement from Kendrick’s song “Meet the Grams” resonated deeply with listeners. He accused Drake of disparaging black women, rapping, “He hates black women. Hypocrisy with kinks of a Nyo fetish. Grew facial hair because he understood being a beard just fitting better. He got ex-offenders on record label OVO that he keeps on a monthly allowance.” This line garnered attention not just for the direct accusation against Drake but also for addressing a sentiment long expressed by many black women about Drake’s alleged disdain for them. This accusation resurfaced previous controversies, such as Drake’s unprovoked jabs at Megan Thee Stallion and Rihanna in his and 21 Savage’s collaborative album “Her Loss,” which sparked significant backlash in 2022.

As many of you are aware, Tory Lanez faced serious legal consequences in 2020 after the incident where he shot Megan Thee Stallion in the foot following a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s residence. Tory has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Despite ample evidence of Tory’s guilt, there are still individuals intent on tarnishing Megan’s reputation, accusing her of falsehoods regarding the incident. Notably, Drake found himself among those voices, indirectly targeting Megan in his track “Ciro Loco,” insinuating that she fabricated the shooting. Megan swiftly responded, admonishing Drake for his insensitivity and stating, “Stop using my trauma to gain attention. Always backing your friends. Since when is it acceptable to mock violence against women? You guys, particularly within the rap community, need to do better. Quick to advocate for brands, but quick to attack a black woman when she speaks out against mistreatment by one of your own.”

Furthermore, in the same album, he targeted Rihanna in his track “Fear of Heights,” criticizing her for ending their relationship and dating A$AP Rocky, whom he deems inferior. He didn’t stop there; he labeled Rihanna as ordinary, boasting about his past relationships with more attractive partners and dismissing her life as mundane. He even went as far as to rap, “Yeah, and the sex was average with you, yeah, I’m anti, ’cause I had it with you, and I had way better bees than you, to be honest.” But it doesn’t end with Rihanna and Megan; he also took aim at Serena Williams in another song. Yes, you heard it right. Serena, who typically keeps to herself, wasn’t spared from Drake’s disdain for black women. In “Middle of the Ocean,” he referred to Serena’s husband as a mere follower and suggested she could have chosen better. His lyrics included, “Sidebar, Serena’s husband a groupie. He claims we don’t got no problem, but no boo. It’s like you coming for sushi. We might pop up on him at will, like Suzuki.”

Serena’s husband, Alex, swiftly responded, taking to Twitter to assert, “I emphasize ‘winning’ because I relentlessly pursue excellence in all facets of life, including being the ultimate supporter for my wife and daughter.” Serena herself expressed her endorsement of Alex’s sentiment with a series of supportive emojis in response to his tweet. And for those unaware, Kendrick Lamar actually confronted Drake for mentioning Serena in his track “Not Like Us,” cautioning, “From AER down to Central, better refrain from speaking on Serena.”

When it comes to Wendy Williams, her feelings towards Drake have never been positive, and she’s made that abundantly clear on her show several times. While she hasn’t explicitly stated her reasons for disliking him, she’s hinted that it may stem from his perceived lack of respect for black people. Now, Wendy’s relationship with Diddy isn’t exactly rosy either, and there was a notable incident where she called out Drake for disrespecting Diddy, which she saw as indicative of his broader attitude towards the black community.

The incident in question took place at a Miami nightclub called Live. While rumors swirled that Diddy was angry because Drake made advances towards his girlfriend Cassie, the reality was different. Diddy’s fury stemmed from Drake releasing the song “Zero to 100,” a track both artists had a claim to. Diddy felt entitled to the song and had been holding onto it for a while, thinking he’d get around to it eventually, but Drake’s move to release it caught him off guard.

“Alright, so here’s the deal. Drake wanted to snag this song, but Puffy was dragging his feet, you know? Both of them had dibs on it. So, Drake took matters into his own hands and recorded it. And boom! It became the summer anthem, the kind that makes everyone bob their heads. Puffy missed out on a huge hit. So, they bump into each other at Live Nightclub, and next thing you know, Drake gets a fist to the face from Puffy. At first, I was like, ‘Really? That’s so not cool.’ But then, digging deeper, turns out, this punch was a long time coming, like ten months overdue. And let me tell you why. Drake’s been dissing Puffy for a while now, and I’ve got the receipts to prove it. Check this out. See? Drake shouldn’t be grabbing mics like that, even if it’s just for fun. I mean, I hold onto mine like it’s my lifeline. No way am I letting go.”

We’re all aware of Drake’s immense talent—he’s a singer, a rapper, and some even find him incredibly attractive. Currently reigning atop the charts, his musical prowess is undeniable. However, perhaps success has inflated his ego to the point where he disrespects established legends. Yes, I said it. Let’s call it as we see it. Who surpasses Puff in terms of longevity, mogul status, rap skills, production, and hit-making? Certainly not Drake—at least, not at this juncture. Let’s also acknowledge Puff’s age; he’s nearly 50, not that there’s any shame in that. But respect is due. Drake’s antics in February, grabbing the microphone, were out of line. Sure, his mic malfunctioned, and Puff was nearby, but you don’t snatch anything, let alone a mic, from a legend. What Drake should’ve done is approached one of the crew members nearby—though admittedly, we’re not sure who they are.

It’s remarkable how, over time, many have turned a blind eye to Drake’s actions against black women. However, it seems the ongoing feud with Kendrick is shedding light on his deeply misogynistic tendencies. Opinions vary, but one individual lamented, “Beyond the drama and the harm caused, it’s disheartening that black women had been raising concerns about Drake’s behavior for years, yet few paid heed. Kudos to Kendrick for addressing it, but it’s frustrating that it took this long.” Another shared, “I’ve just listened to all of Kendrick’s disses in sequence, and when he called out Drake for his disdain toward black women, it hit me because I’ve long sensed that. Now, I’m eager to hear your thoughts. How do you feel about Kendrick and Wendy Williams exposing Drake’s attitudes? And could this mark the downfall of his career? Share your thoughts below.
