Greetings, everyone! Today, I’ll be delving into a few noteworthy topics, beginning with the latest concerning Doja Cat.
Recently, Doja found herself embroiled in controversy yet again when she shared a photo donning a t-shirt featuring Sam Hyde, a figure notorious for his association with Neo-Nazi trolling. Hyde’s brand of comedy often includes offensive tirades that have offended various communities, including Jewish, Black, and LGBTQ groups. Understandably, Doja’s choice to proudly display Hyde on her attire didn’t sit well with many, prompting a wave of reactions, some of which were highlighted on The Jasmine Brand.
One Twitter user remarked, “Imagine catering to incels like Doja Cat, who seems determined to retrace her steps toward being canceled and obscure, just to dive back into those racially charged chat rooms full-time. Doja is just another biracial individual grappling with unresolved issues regarding her Black identity, compensating by engaging in obscure online Neo-Nazi circles. It’s a familiar tale, albeit with a different protagonist. Doja’s behavior is both cringeworthy and predictable. She’s not the first Black or biracial person I’ve seen grappling with identity issues, but she’s certainly the first to express sympathy towards Edge Lords and Nazis.”

There were numerous reactions, too many to sift through entirely. However, it’s clear that Doja faced significant backlash, prompting her to edit the photo by cropping out the contentious section and adding a series of eye roll emojis in her caption. It seemed she was irked by the criticism, and honestly, I’m perplexed by Doja’s behavior. It appears she may be intentionally seeking controversy or even attempting to provoke her own cancellation. This hypothesis gains traction considering her past statements about disliking fame and her tendency to lash out online, even at her own fans. Additionally, her recent flirtation with controversial imagery in her music suggests a deliberate effort to alienate herself from certain segments of her audience and perhaps the industry as a whole. It’s evident that Doja’s actions are pushing people away, and it’s conceivable that she’s orchestrating this exodus herself, driven by an underlying dissatisfaction with her fame and career trajectory. Posting the photo with Sam Hyde on her shirt could very well be another calculated move to further distance herself from her audience. It’s disheartening to witness, and it seems Doja may not be genuinely content with her current situation, despite her outward appearance.
It appears that Doja’s popularity has taken a downturn lately. Reports indicate that her latest album, “Scarlet,” only managed to move 72,000 units in its first week. While this figure isn’t necessarily dismal, it’s certainly less than what one would expect for an artist of Doja’s caliber. Despite extensive promotion, including playlisting, radio campaigns, and the release of four singles, including the chart-topping “Paint the Town Red,” her album’s sales fell short of expectations. Even with over 75 million monthly listeners on Spotify, this suggests a waning interest in her work. While Doja still retains a dedicated fan base and produces music that resonates with audiences, it’s evident that she may be intentionally pulling away from the pop star spotlight, perhaps signaling a shift in her career trajectory.
Now, let’s discuss the recent development regarding Halle Bailey’s song being removed from consideration for the Oscars.

Recently, there has been notice that Disney has taken Halle Bailey out of consideration for the Oscars in the Best Original Song category. Halle performed an original song titled “For the First Time” for the live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid,” and Disney initially submitted it for Oscars consideration. However, the song has since been withdrawn from consideration.
Many are questioning why Disney would make such a decision. Halle had a strong chance of securing a nomination, given the success of “The Little Mermaid” as one of the highest-grossing music-based films of the summer. Speculation arises that her alleged pregnancy might be a factor. It’s not her pregnancy per se, but rather the timing. Nominees are expected to attend and perform at the Oscars, which might be uncertain if she goes into labor around that time.
This could be the reason why her song is no longer in contention. However, Disney is still putting her name forward for Best Actress, so hopefully, she receives recognition. She delivered an excellent performance in “The Little Mermaid,” but the competition in the Best Actress category is fierce. Nevertheless, her chances might have been stronger in the Best Original Song category, making it unfortunate that she lost the opportunity due to her alleged pregnancy.
Let’s be clear, there’s nothing wrong with her being pregnant. If indeed true, congratulations to her, and best wishes. However, the timing played a critical role here, and it would have been a shining moment for Halle. Despite this setback, opportunities may arise in the future for her to showcase her talent once again.
Tia Mowry is expressing frustration over assumptions that she desires to reconcile with Corey. However, Tia’s recent experiences with dating post-divorce have been challenging. Having been with actor Corey for over two decades and married for 14 years, Tia decided to end their marriage last year. Despite no known scandals or issues, she felt compelled to explore single life after spending most of her adult years with Corey. Now navigating the dating scene, Tia finds it exhausting and disillusioning. She reflects on how traditional courtship seems to be fading, replaced by a mentality that treats people as disposable prizes. Tia rebuffs the notion that her difficulties with dating imply regret over her decision to leave Corey. She asserts her strength and independence, urging others to stop projecting their assumptions onto her. While some criticize her public discussions about her love life and divorce, Tia defends her right to share her truth. However, she acknowledges the need to be cautious about revealing too much, as it can lead to misinterpretation and unwanted narratives. In contrast to her ex-husband Corey’s silence on their divorce, Tia’s openness invites scrutiny and speculation. Ultimately, Tia’s transparency aligns with her brand, but she may benefit from exercising more discretion to avoid fueling unfounded assumptions about her life.
