I’ll be covering several topics, starting with rapper Amaretta the Great. Recently, she released a track titled “Sorry Not Sorry,” sparking conversations because she called out individuals who falsely claim Atlanta roots. Atlanta, Georgia, is a city many rappers boast about, yet not all are genuinely from there. While some reside in the sprawling metro Atlanta area, comprising various counties, the city itself consists solely of Fulton and DeKalb Counties. This distinction has fueled an online discussion among metro Atlanta residents. Furthermore, it has stirred things up in hip-hop, particularly for artists who associate with Atlanta without truly hailing from the city. One such artist is Lotto, frequently mentioned following Amaretta’s song release. Despite representing Clayton County, also known as Clayco, and proclaiming herself the “queen of the South,” Lotto’s origins trace back to Columbus, Ohio. Amaretta’s track prompted speculation that it might have been aimed at Lotto for falsely claiming Atlanta roots while being born outside the South. Lotto herself responded to Amaretta, sharing a TikTok video with a hint of passive-aggression.
“Clayco isn’t Atlanta,” she quipped, teasing Amaretta’s accent in the song. However, she toned down the jest after noticing Amaretta’s shout-out in her recent freestyle. Someone even remarked, “Was the song such a big deal? She just shouted her out in her new TSR freestyle.” Lotto replied, “It’s not a big deal. LOL, Clayco is the South. We’re not the city.” Admittedly, Lotto spoke the truth. Despite the banter, I thoroughly enjoyed Amaretta’s track, “Sorry Not Sorry.” It sparked controversy and conversation, which I found refreshing. Moreover, I appreciate the newfound attention it’s bringing Amaretta’s way. She’s undeniably one of the most talented up-and-coming rappers. And she’s not alone. Artists like Lady London, Laquia, Tiara Whack, Kayley 47, and Nilam also deserve recognition for their skills. Too often, the industry focuses solely on image and sex appeal, overlooking true talent. We need more diversity and recognition for skilled female rappers like Amaretta.
In a recent interview on Monique’s Apple Music show “Proud Radio,” Kelly Rowland shared a surprising revelation about Ciara’s popular song “Like A Boy.” Kelly disclosed that the song was initially intended for her, unbeknownst to her at the time. Despite this revelation, Kelly expressed no hard feelings towards Ciara, emphasizing their close bond over motherhood. Reflecting on the moment she learned about the song’s origins, Kelly admitted to feeling a mix of surprise and amusement. While initially taken aback, she now embraces the success of her friend’s rendition. This revelation sparked curiosity about why the song wasn’t originally given to Kelly and whether it would have achieved the same level of success in her hands. Despite this speculation, Kelly acknowledges Ciara’s exceptional performance on the track and believes it ultimately found its rightful place.

Sierra’s song held a deeply personal resonance, likely stemming from her past relationship with Bow Wow. For those unfamiliar, Sierra and Bow Wow were once romantically involved, even engaged at one point, until he betrayed her trust with multiple infidelities. “Like A Boy,” therefore, reflects Sierra’s desire to flip the script and make her partner understand the pain of betrayal. It was a raw, emotional expression for her.
Yet, it wasn’t just the lyrics that struck a chord; the accompanying music video was equally impactful. Sierra’s creativity shone through, especially in her unique style of choreography. As a female R&B pop star embracing street dance, she broke away from the mold of her peers, setting herself apart in a memorable way. It’s fair to say that Sierra’s artistic vision was integral to the success of the song.

Shifting gears, let’s delve into another headline: Doja Cat’s recent confrontation with YouTuber Lori Hill over plastic surgery allegations. When Hill suggested that Doja had undergone various cosmetic procedures—ranging from a rhinoplasty to liposuction—Doja didn’t hold back. In a fiery response, she called out Hill’s fixation on speculating about others’ appearances, urging her to focus on her own priorities. It was a bold statement from Doja, shutting down the gossip with a powerful clapback.
I’m infuriated because there are falsehoods circulating about me. That’s the crux of my anger. I’ve built my career around embracing my body and empowering my fans to feel confident about theirs. Yet, the moment I undergo any change, it’s as if you, resembling Jack Skellington, feel entitled to critique my appearance. But here’s the truth: you’re clueless, blinded by your ignorance, and your entire narrative is flawed. If I could dismantle your entire empire, I would. I’ve never undergone any drastic alterations… Why? The only artificial things about me are my eyelashes, hair, and nails. Now, this ignorant individual alleges I’ve had a rhinoplasty. My nose remains unchanged. She compares a photo of me without eyebrows to one with drawn-on eyebrows, claiming I’ve had an eyebrow lift. Any woman who wears wigs knows that adjusting a wig can temporarily alter facial features. Yet, this verified individual dares to speculate about my choices, tarnishing my brand in front of my followers. She attacks my very essence. I’m not ruling out future procedures, perhaps when aging becomes more noticeable. But for now, accept reality. This is who I am. I embrace my curves, and yes, sometimes they may appear different depending on what I wear. So, what’s your flawed logic based on? If your reasoning is flawed, your entire persona is tainted. Everything you stand for is garbage.

“If you want to have a conversation with me, just talk to me. Don’t come at me like that. I’m not performing surgery here, buddy. This is beyond me.” That was just a snippet of Doja’s frustration, her full rant extended further. But it’s evident she was deeply unsettled by Lori’s video. Lori eventually took it down due to backlash. Personally, I feel Doja shouldn’t have invested so much energy in addressing a video about plastic surgery. While I understand her impulse to respond, I don’t believe such an extensive rant was necessary. A simple tweet discrediting the video would have sufficed. After all, people would have believed her; Doja’s appearance hasn’t changed drastically, except for her weight loss. And that seems to be the crux of the issue. Since shedding weight, she’s faced a barrage of comments about her body, ranging from allegations of eating disorders to accusations of drug use and surgery. She’s even expressed frustration about it in a recent rant, refuting claims of cocaine use and addressing the scrutiny surrounding her weight loss. It’s clear she’s been deeply affected by the criticism. However, I believe she should just ignore it altogether. What’s your take on this? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe, and share this video if you found it meaningful. Thanks for tuning in, and I’ll catch you next time.
