Drake recently made a controversial comment about Kendrick Lamar’s son, saying, “Why do you never hold your son and tell him to say cheese? I heard that one of them little kids might be Dave Free.” This statement sparked a lot of backlash because it implies that Kendrick’s son might actually be fathered by Kendrick’s close friend and collaborator, Dave Free.
However, it seems like both Drake and Kendrick have been spreading falsehoods. Drake doesn’t have any children, contrary to what Kendrick might have implied. Meanwhile, Kendrick’s son is indeed his own and not Dave Free’s, which means Drake’s claim is baseless. This incident adds to a growing list of lies and manipulations attributed to Drake, echoing Kendrick’s past accusations of him being a master manipulator and habitual liar.
Drake’s attempt to create discord within Kendrick’s inner circle has spectacularly failed. Even DJ Akademiks, known to be a supporter of Drake, had to concede that the claims about Kendrick’s children were false. This is just one of many lies Drake has been accused of, and more of his manipulative tactics are coming to light.
But what does Dave Free have to say about Drake’s allegations? And what other lies has Drake been caught in? Let’s dig deeper.
Drake is currently facing backlash from much of the rap community, and it’s not unexpected. He’s been subtly attacking many of his peers for years, so it’s hard to see him as the victim now. In a leaked diss track aimed at Kendrick Lamar, Metro Boomin, Rick Ross, The Weeknd, A$AP Rocky, and others, Drake even acknowledged the overwhelming opposition by saying, “It’s 20 v 1.”
While it might seem unfair that so many are ganging up on him, there are plenty of reasons for their grievances, especially Kendrick Lamar’s. Their rivalry dates back to Kendrick’s “Control” verse in 2013, and while their feud has mostly been competitive rather than personal, Kendrick has likely grown weary of Drake’s repeated subliminal shots over the years in songs like “Remix,” “The Language,” and “100.”
That’s why he finally said, “sneak this on like that,” and took a direct shot. The viral beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar is cooling off, even with die-hard Drizzy fans admitting that Kendrick won this battle by a landslide. But just because things are calming down doesn’t mean the online chatter is going away anytime soon. Fans are still deep-diving into these diss tracks from both sides, trying to figure out who told the truth, who lied, and who really exposed the dirt.
And speaking of lies, one thing we know for sure is that Drake lied about one of Kendrick’s kids supposedly being fathered by his longtime friend, Dave Free. To give you some context, Kendrick and Dave go way back, both as professionals and as friends. They were childhood buddies who later became business partners. Dave is a filmmaker and record executive. While he was co-president of Top Dawg Entertainment, he and Kendrick directed several music videos and short films together under the name “The Little Homies.”

Dave was behind the visuals for Kendrick’s albums “To Pimp a Butterfly,” “DAMN,” and “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.” He also co-directed the concert film “Kendrick Lamar Live from Paris: The Big Steppers Tour.” In 2019, Dave left TDE, and he and Kendrick started their own creative company, PG Lang. They’ve continued to collaborate on different projects and have remained close friends.
Now, let’s talk about how Drake tried and failed to turn Kendrick and Dave against each other by spreading false rumors about Dave getting Kendrick’s fiancée, Whitney, pregnant. Dave is one of Kendrick’s closest friends and is practically an uncle to Kendrick and Whitney’s two kids. It’s completely normal for Dave to like pictures of the kids and comment on both Kendrick and Whitney’s posts about their little ones. But it seems like Drake can’t understand what genuine relationships and friendships are. He took one comment Dave left on Whitney’s post of her and her kids and twisted it as “proof” that Dave and Whitney were hooking up behind Kendrick’s back.
On his diss track “Family Matters,” Drake claims that Kendrick and Whitney, who have been together since high school, are no longer in love and that Kendrick mistreats Whitney. He then alleged that Kendrick’s son is not really his and that he was fathered by Dave Free.
Drake raps, “All that puppy love was over in y’all 18. Why you never hold your son and tell him say cheese? We could have left the kids out of this, don’t blame me. You a dog and you know it, you just play sweet. Your baby mama captions always screaming save me. You did her dirty all your life, you trying to make peace. I heard that one of them little kids might be Dave’s.”
On the diss track “The Heart Part Six,” Drake uses heart emojis Dave left on Whitney’s photos as cover art and doubles down on his claims that Kendrick mistreated Whitney and that Whitney got pregnant by Dave. He insinuates that Whitney following Dave on Instagram instead of Kendrick is proof of their alleged affair. He raps, “And why isn’t Whitney denying all of the allegations? Why is she following Dave Free and not Mr. Morale? You haven’t seen the kids in six months, the distance is wild. Dave leaving heart emojis underneath pics of the child.”
Drake then suggests that Kendrick’s resentment stems from betrayal by those closest to him, with “deep cuts that never healed and now they got infected.” He raps, “Like if Dave really f***ed your girl and got her pregnant. Talk about breeding resentment, I’m not sure how to ease the sentiment. This is too intimate, I’m praying you recover from both incidents.”
Neither Dave nor Whitney have addressed any of the allegations Drake made, and Drake’s fans took this silence as proof he was telling the truth. But let’s think logically for a second. Whitney and Dave probably haven’t responded because they know that acknowledging these rumors would only give them more credibility. Drake based his claims on an emoji and gossip from MediaTakeOut.
Drake keeps trying to divert attention by saying, “Sure, I might be a pedophile, but look at Kendrick.” Ironically, if Drake had just ignored these allegations, he could have made Kendrick look desperate and irrational. But because Drake likely knows there’s some truth to his own shady dealings, he feels compelled to keep defending himself unconvincingly. If Drake had any solid evidence to back up his claims about Dave and Whitney, he would have shown it by now.

Also, no matter how strategic someone is, they wouldn’t let rumors of being a pedophile spiral out of control as part of a grand plan to expose someone for getting cheated on. Using the fact that Whitney doesn’t follow Kendrick on Instagram as evidence is laughable. Drake clearly has a teenager’s understanding of relationships, which makes sense given he’s almost 40, has been in the spotlight for over two decades, and has never had a serious long-term relationship. Plus, Dave Free is literally the only person posted on Kendrick’s Instagram. If they had any beef, Kendrick wouldn’t have him on his Instagram.
Even if Dave Free were the biological father of one of Kendrick’s kids, does it really change anything? Kendrick is still stepping up and being a great dad, while Drake is a certified deadbeat who got called out by Pusha T into being a present father. Even if Kendrick is raising a child who isn’t biologically his, it pales in comparison to what Drake is accused of.
And now it turns out Drake lied about Dave Free fathering one of Kendrick’s kids. DJ Akademiks, Drake’s number one fanboy, admitted that Drake lied about a bunch of stuff, including Dave being the father of one of Kendrick’s kids. He said, “But Kendrick’s kid isn’t Dave Free’s, from my understanding, so Drake lied. So there’s lies all in this.”
This battle, despite the hype, proves that everything Kendrick said about Drake being a liar and manipulator is true. Drake muddied the waters because the average Drake fan doesn’t think deeply and takes everything at face value, especially if it’s coming from Drake.
No matter which side you’re on, let’s be real: Drake took a massive L in this beef. People are jamming out in clubs to a diss track where Drake is called a pedophile. Even the NBA is playing it.
Throughout this period, Drake has faced intense lyrical criticism and has further undermined himself by validating Kendrick’s claims that he is a master manipulator and habitual liar. Additionally, although it might seem insignificant, Drake suggested he had heard that one of Kendrick’s children might be fathered by Dave Free, while Kendrick repeatedly called Drake a “pedophile” as if it were a known fact.
One fan remarked, “Things that are unproven and unsubstantiated: Drake having a daughter, Kendrick’s wife Dave Free being the father. Things that have been proven: Drake having questionable interactions with multiple young women over a wide span of time, Drake colonizing sounds, and…”
Another added, “Don’t forget the Diddy punch, Pusha T avoidance, Baka being a confirmed ex-offender in Drake’s camp, Drake being a liar as Kendrick was never ghost writers, AI user, swag stealer, song stealer, backdooring his friends’ girls. What did I miss?”
So, what’s your take on this? Why do you think Drake decided to push the narrative about Dave Free being the father of one of Kendrick’s children when it’s so easily disproven? Do you think Drake had a strategy, or was he just throwing accusations to see what might stick?
