Hey, everyone! Welcome. I’ve got a few topics on my mind for today’s video, but let’s kick things off with the exciting news: Issa Rae’s wedding! First and foremost, a huge congratulations to the multi-talented actress, writer, and producer Issa Rae. This past weekend, she exchanged vows with her longtime partner Louis Dion in a beautiful private ceremony held in the picturesque south of France. Issa looked absolutely stunning, and her husband was equally dashing. Their joy was palpable, and it was heartwarming to see. What I admire most is Issa’s commitment to keeping her personal life private. Many folks didn’t even realize she was in a relationship, let alone engaged or married. She’s done an incredible job of shielding her relationship from the prying eyes of the public, and I totally respect that decision. Clearly, her bond with her husband is incredibly important to her, and she rightly chose to protect it from any unwanted intrusion. So, here’s to Issa and her husband—may their union be filled with love, happiness, and plenty of wonderful memories!

Jayda Cheaves appears to indirectly criticize her relationship with Lil Baby. Moving on, let’s briefly discuss the social media personality and socialite Jada Chives. In case you’re not familiar, Jada is currently in a relationship with the rapper Lil Baby. While browsing through the Shade Room, I stumbled upon a post where she seemed to throw some subtle shade at her relationship. The Shade Room shared a quote from Justin Laboi, who said, “I was in a relationship so toxic that when we broke up, people started congratulating me.” In response, Jada commented, “Hello. Well, this the one,” indicating her agreement with Justin’s sentiment. Upon reading this exchange, it struck me that Jada might be alluding to her current relationship, possibly hinting at some toxicity within it. Although it’s plausible that she could be referring to a previous relationship, my intuition suggests otherwise, given her history with Lil Baby. Despite Lil Baby being exposed multiple times for infidelity, including involvement with various adult entertainers and rumors about his interactions with his other child’s mother, Aisha, Jada has seemingly remained with him. Recently, Lil Baby was caught in a compromising situation with another woman at a club, which led him to defend himself in the comments section of the post shared by “It’s On Site” on Instagram. His uncharacteristic response to the rumors indicates that he may have been caught in a compromising position. Jada’s subtle criticism of their relationship might stem from her awareness of its toxicity, especially considering the public knowledge of Lil Baby’s infidelity. When Jada previously announced her split from Lil Baby, many people congratulated her, underscoring the perception of their relationship as problematic. It’s regrettable because I admire both Jada and Lil Baby, but it’s evident that their relationship falls short of being considered exemplary.

Moving on to the topic of Cardi B’s recent decision to cease promoting Normani’s song “Wild Side,” there’s much to discuss. Cardi took to social media for one of her trademark rants, sharing and subsequently deleting tweets regarding her collaboration with Normani. You may be aware that Cardi recently teamed up with Normani on the track “Wild Side,” which has climbed to number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Normani, as it’s her highest debut on the charts with a solo single. While she’s previously landed top 10 hits alongside artists like Khalid and Sam Smith, “Wild Side” stands out as her own track, and it’s been met with considerable success. Congratulations are certainly in order for Normani, and it’s important to acknowledge Cardi’s contribution to the song’s impressive first-week numbers. Initially, like many others, I wasn’t convinced of Cardi’s fit on the track. However, her verse has grown on me over time. Still, I can’t help but wish “Wild Side” had been a solo effort for Normani. She’s proven her ability to shine independently with tracks like “Motivation,” and I had hoped for a similar showcase with “Wild Side.” It’s worth noting that Normani originally intended for “Wild Side” to be a solo release. However, Cardi’s interest led to a collaboration, a decision likely influenced by Cardi’s status as a major artist and the potential boost she could provide in terms of numbers. While I understand the business perspective behind this move, I share the sentiment of many who hoped for a solo moment for Normani.

A Twitter user recently expressed an opinion, suggesting that Cardi should have been featured on a song remix instead of being the main artist. While the comment seemed harmless, Cardi took offense, pointing out that those who criticize often don’t actively support her work. Another user chimed in, claiming they shared the same opinion while still streaming the song. This prompted Cardi to express frustration, even hinting at removing herself from promotion efforts. Despite some interpreting it as trolling, Cardi clarified she felt disrespected and wouldn’t tolerate it. Though she eventually deleted her tweets, the incident raised eyebrows, as Cardi’s reaction appeared unprofessional and potentially overshadowed the song’s success. This situation also unfairly affected Normani, who deserved to bask in the song’s triumph without negativity. Despite Cardi’s actions, Normani stood by her, displaying loyalty amidst the drama.

Normani expressed her gratitude, stating, “Can’t imagine this record without you. That’s the tweet. I don’t think you guys understand how hard this woman has gone for me. You have been a champion for me throughout this whole process, even when I was freaking out the night before releasing. God don’t play when it comes to his. We good, sis.” It’s admirable how she stays positive and professional despite the negativity. Her response even prompted Cardi B to backtrack on her statements. Cardi admitted, “Jakka asks my fans. I really don’t want to do features because I want all my features to go on my album, but I’m doing features on songs that I believe in and I love, you know, artists that I love because, you know, I just, I, I got pregnant so it will slow down my album and everything, but doing some features with certain artists like Normani, um, not only do I like the song, but like, I fell in love. I sound like a creep. I fell in love with Normani and I felt in love and I felt and I fell in love with her situation because I feel like she’s such a talented person. She could dance, she could sing, she got the work ethic. So, um, you know, she just, I just feel like, you know, like, you know, she’s a little younger, so she just needs a little bit more help with the industry stuff. And I feel like I’ve been putting my all, um, behind this record and she’s been putting her all on this record and I feel like my fans been putting her they all on their records like, I, I, I be waking up and all I see is my fans promoting, promoting and it hurts me when I get s* on because I’ve been putting my all and my fans be putting my own. So it’s like when I get s* on, I don’t even want to argue, but you know what? I just take my services somewhere else. But that’s not fair. It’s not fair to the artist. It’s not fair to the artist and it’s not fair to the people that actually enjoy it. But, um, keep on streaming outside because at the end of the day, the song is amazing.” Cardi’s acknowledgment of her mistake was a positive step, showing that even in the chaotic realm of Stan Twitter, there can be understanding and growth.

I’ve observed that numerous fans on Twitter tend to stir up unnecessary drama, but that shouldn’t deter an artist from promoting a record they’re involved in or believe in. Although Cardi acknowledged the unfairness of her initial tweet, I still find it hard to overlook her initial rant. It seems to reveal how sensitive she is to negative feedback and exposes aspects of her ego. She seems to crave praise and felt slighted by the lack of acknowledgment for her efforts in promoting the song. Nonetheless, I acknowledge Cardi’s contribution in giving the record the necessary boost. Normani excelled with her vocals and delivered an incredible video, which will surely attract even more attention when performed live. Cardi’s promotion efforts deserve recognition, yet her rant left a sour taste.

Shifting focus to Normani, I personally enjoy her song “Wild Side,” although I understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Looking ahead, I believe her next single should be a catchy, up-tempo track that appeals to a wider audience. Normani has a knack for pop music, and I hope her next single reflects that genre. Additionally, I have faith in her ability to carry a song solo.
