It seems Doja Cat is stirring up some controversy with Cardi B as she throws shade in a new track from her album, prompting a swift response from Cardi. Doja Cat didn’t hold back, likening Cardi to a stray dog and suggesting Cardi lacks the ability to sell out world tours like her. While the exact reason for Doja’s shots at Cardi remains unclear, this isn’t the first time she’s taken aim at Cardi without provocation. Back in 2019, Doja seemingly trolled Cardi for her rap style. This time, Cardi wasn’t taking it lying down and wasted no time in asserting her position.

Alright, so this whole situation kicked off a few days back when DOA made the announcement about dropping the deluxe edition of her album “Scarlet.” Shortly after, someone leaked one of the tracks from the album called “Acknowledge Me.” As expected, DOA delivered her verses flawlessly, leaving no room for crumbs. However, what really stirred up chatter wasn’t just her lyrical prowess. Many quickly noticed subtle jabs seemingly aimed at Cardi B, with DOA boldly name-dropping her to ensure clarity. It’s one thing to throw shade, but it takes guts to explicitly mention someone in a song. DOA seemed to be addressing someone directly, but then decided to pull Cardi into the mix by suggesting this individual was imitating Cardi’s style. She rapped, “You’re out here acting like you’re into Carly Rae, Cardi, huh? But you’re barking like Cardi B, yeah, yeah. You’re no fool, but you probably aren’t as sharp as me. I instructed the landlord to change the locks instead of handing over the key.”

Once news of this circulated, DOA attempted to mitigate the situation by asserting it wasn’t a slight towards Cardi, but the public wasn’t convinced. Personally, likening someone to barking doesn’t sound complimentary to me. A fan took issue with DOA’s apparent jab at Cardi and confronted her on Twitter, asking, “Okay, but which one did you wet, Cardi B?” DOA retorted, “None of them, get a life.” She then launched into a tirade about her reluctance to engage in rap feuds, citing that she’s never felt mistreated by her peers in the industry and doesn’t require such conflicts to maintain relevance. “No one has provoked me enough to warrant dissing them. My fellow artists have been exceedingly kind and supportive of me. Please refrain from grasping at straws. I refuse to partake in these juvenile games that some of you are playing. It’s incredibly immature and frankly, the most disheartening thing I’ve encountered online. Grow up.”

I don’t engage in rap conflicts. But as previously mentioned, many were skeptical. They felt Doja was throwing shade without taking accountability. One commenter remarked, “Doja Cat always throws shade and then hides.” Another quipped, “Her next single should be ‘Hiding Your Hand’.” People find it hard to trust Doja because this isn’t the first time she’s targeted Cardi unprovoked. In 2019, a feud erupted when Doja mocked Cardi’s vocals on “Press” during an Instagram Live session. Cardi was already facing criticism for her delivery on the song, and Doja’s imitation seemed like a jab at her rap skills. DJ Academics shared the video with a caption poking fun at Doja’s appearance, prompting Cardi to retaliate, accusing Doja of chasing clout and referencing her viral hit “Moo.” Doja claimed she didn’t intend to offend Cardi, but Cardi wasn’t swayed.

DOA remarked about Cardi on DJ Academics, stating, “But who cares? Hatred sells more tickets. I poke fun at everyone, myself included.” Additionally, she shared an old video of herself promoting her then-single “Juicy,” along with Nicki’s “Megatron” and Cardi’s “Press,” captioning it, “7 weeks back when I urged everyone to stream ‘Juicy,’ ‘Megatron’ by Nicki Minaj, and ‘Press’ by Cardi B. My track ‘Juicy’ and Nicki’s ‘Megatron,’ and Cardi’s ‘Press’.” This isn’t the first time Doja has irked Cardi, suggesting lingering tension between them.

In her latest album, there’s some talk about DOA throwing shade at Cardi B. It’s not just the comparison to a dog that has people talking; there’s another track titled “Okay Loser” that seems to take a dig at Cardi for not embarking on a world tour like DOA has. The lyrics suggest some frustration, with lines like “Don’t know why she mad ’cause there ain’t nothing I did to her. She just out here plotting on my, I call her Stewart. She the lowest, she so down and out, I’ll sewer. Grow the F up, your age, you’re immature. Maybe one day you going to create some allure. Maybe one day you’ll be great and go on tour like me.”

Initially, some thought this verse might be aimed at Nicki Minaj, but Nicki’s track record includes successful world tours, including her current highly lucrative one. So, it’s evidently not about her. On the other hand, Cardi has faced criticism for not embarking on a solo tour despite her immense success. DOA has a history of throwing shade without directly owning up to it, leading some to believe she’s targeting specific individuals but refusing to acknowledge it. This ambiguity fuels speculation and discussion among fans.

One observer noted, “Doja just stays throwing shots and then pretends she’s not targeting anyone.” There’s also the mention of going on tour, a point that only applies to Cardi at the moment. Still, DOA insists it’s not about her. Another commentator remarked, “Doja does this every time, dissing and then denying it. She’s clearly addressing the inability to go on tour. It’s obvious she’s not talking about Nicki, who’s currently on a sold-out tour. Yet, Doja insists she’s addressing the bloggers. But what bloggers are going on tour? Come on, if you’re dissing, at least own up to it.”

“I’m curious to hear your thoughts. What’s your take on DOA’s diss towards Cardi B and their trolling of her for imitating a dog’s bark? Do you think Cardi will respond?
