Drake Is Salty Over A$AP Rocky’s Acquittal—And He’s Blaming Jay-Z?!

Drake is in his feelings again—this time over A$AP Rocky dodging those gun charges. And if the rumors are true, he’s convinced that Jay-Z pulled some strings to make it happen.

Now, we all know Drake and Rocky have never exactly been besties, and let’s not forget the Rihanna factor. Drake has a long, messy history with her, and Rocky? Well, he’s the one who locked it down—wife, kids, and all. So, seeing Rocky win again? Yeah, that might just sting a little.

Drake, Rihanna, and the Never-Ending Saga
Drake’s obsession with Rihanna has been painfully obvious for years. From that cringey Video Vanguard Award speech (where he professed his love, only to get swerved on live TV) to their short-lived romance that ended badly, he never really moved on.

Rihanna, on the other hand? She was done. And when Rihanna is done? She is DONE. No friendship, no lingering feelings—just next chapter, please.

Later, she even admitted in an interview that they don’t talk anymore. And when she said it? She winced at the mention of his name. That was all we needed to know.

Drake Lowkey Admits He Messed Up
Years later, Drake basically spilled his own tea on Certified Lover Boy. In the song F**king Fans, he raps:

“You said I was fking up when I was out here fking fans, and it made you look crazy.”

So yeah, he cheated. And the internet dragged him for it.

Now, fast-forward to today, and he’s allegedly upset that Rocky walked free—claiming Jay-Z had something to do with it. Is he just bitter? Or is there something deeper going on?

Let’s talk about it. 👀
The Audacity of Him!
After years of chasing Rihanna, professing his love in public, and making it seem like she was the one playing hard to get, Drake turned around and fumbled the bag. The hypocrisy was too much for people to handle. Like, how do you spend half a decade begging for a shot with Rihanna—only to cheat when you finally get it?

And not only did he cheat, but he had the nerve to be messy about it. Instead of taking his L in silence, he kept throwing shots at her in his music.

In F**king Heights, he rapped:

“Why they make it sound like I’m still hung up on you?
That could never be, girl, can’t run me.
Better him than me, better it’s not me.
I’m anti, I’m anti.
Yeah, the envy was average with you.
Yeah, I’m anti ‘cause I had it with you.”

And if that wasn’t enough, he even threw shade at A$AP Rocky, making it sound like Rocky was too whipped over Rihanna:

“Okay, I’m anti like your daddy’s sister.
Anti like a family picture.
And I had way better b**ches than you, tbh.
Yeah, that man, he’s still with you, he can’t leave you.
Y’all go on vacation, but it’s Antigua.”

At this point, it’s obvious—Drake is bitter. And now that A$AP Rocky has been caught up in legal drama, people are side-eyeing Drake, wondering if he’s secretly enjoying the mess from the sidelines.

For context, Rocky’s legal troubles go back to a wild incident in November 2021 with A$AP Relli, a former close friend from the A$AP Mob days. A lot of people thought Rocky was done for, but the jury ended up finding him not guilty.

And girl, the way he jumped on Rihanna after the verdict? He was ready to make baby number three right there on the courtroom bench!

Court: County of Los Angeles
People of the State of California vs. Mayers
Case number: BA814201

“We, the jury, in the above-entitled action, find the defendant, Rakim Mayers, not guilty.”

And just like that—cue the audience going wild!

So yeah, Rihanna and Rocky are out here thriving, and they’re not worried about Drake. But Drake? Oh, he’s pressed.

Word on the street is that he’s blaming Jay-Z for Rocky’s acquittal, claiming Jay pulled some strings to get him off the hook as a favor to Rihanna, who still has ties to Roc Nation.

And honestly, Drake and Jay-Z have had quiet beef for years. Some even believe Jay has been backing Kendrick Lamar in his feud with Drake just to stir the pot.

But why do Drake and Jay-Z even have tension in the first place? Let’s rewind.

Back in the early 2000s, when Drake was still trying to break into the industry, Jay-Z actually gave him a huge boost. He featured on Blueprint 3’s Off That, and then returned the favor by hopping on Light Up from Drake’s debut album, Thank Me Later.

Everything was cool at first, but here’s where things got shaky.

Jay-Z took three albums to solidify his rap legend status. Drake came in acting like he already had the crown—and Jay wasn’t feeling it.

Then in 2011, things got spicy. Jay-Z and Kanye dropped Watch the Throne the same year Drake released Take Care, and Drake sent his first subliminal shot on DJ Khaled’s I’m On One, rapping:

“I’m just feeling like the throne is for the taking, watch me take it.”

Then Birdman jumped in, hyping up Drake and Lil Wayne while shading Jay-Z. In an interview with Tropical TV, he said:

“I don’t think Jay-Z is the number one MC in no kind of way. Wayne’s the best. He do the most, and he make the most money. How can you be the best if you don’t make the most money? Come on, man, be for real. Can’t nobody f** with Wayne.”*

Jay wasn’t about to let that slide. On Watch the Throne’s HAM, he clapped back with:

“Really? Half a billy? You got baby money.
Keep it real, they ain’t got my lady money.”

And just like that, a full-blown rap war was brewing.

Lil Wayne wasted zero time clapping back on It’s Good, rapping:

“Talking about my baby money? I got your baby money.
Kidnap your b**, get that ‘how much you love your lady’ money.”

Things got real fast.

And of course, Drake had to add his two cents on the same track, throwing shade at Jay with:

“Please pardon my brother, he’s just angry at you.
You don’t have your heart in your rap, and you got too f*ing comfy.”

Translation: Jay-Z got lazy.

But then, in 2014, Drake switched up. In a Rolling Stone interview, he actually praised Watch the Throne, saying it pushed him creatively and even inspired Started From the Bottom.

For a moment, it seemed like the tension was over. In 2013, Jay-Z and Drake even worked together on Pound Cake / Paris Morton Music 2. But here’s the gag—Jay originally planned to keep that song for Magna Carta Holy Grail but decided to gift it to Drake instead.

That should have been a sign of peace, right? Wrong.

Just a few months later, Drake was back talking slick, shading Jay-Z’s love for fine art references in another Rolling Stone interview:

“It’s like Hov can’t drop bars these days without at least four art references. I’d love to collect at some point, but the whole rap-art world thing is starting to feel kind of corny.”

And just like that, the cold war was back on.

Now, fast forward to 2024, and with A$AP Rocky walking free, people are convinced Jay-Z played a role in the outcome. And Drake? Oh, he hates it.

At this point, all we can do is sit back, sip our tea, and wait for the next subliminal diss track. 🍵
Jay-Z wasn’t about to let Drake’s little art-world jab slide. Just a month after Drake’s Rolling Stone interview dropped, Hov clapped back on Jay Electronica’s We Made It (Remix) with a not-so-subtle flex:

“Sorry, Mr. Drizzy, for so much art talk. Silly me, rapping about s* I really bought, while these rappers rap about guns that they ain’t shot, and a bunch of other silly s*** that they ain’t got.”*

Drake, never one to stay quiet, fired right back just a week later on Draft Day:

“I’m focused on making records and getting bigger. Just hits, no misses—that’s for the married folk.”

Yeah… these two have never exactly been besties.

But now, things are getting even messier—because Drake is out here claiming that Jay-Z allegedly pulled strings to help A$AP Rocky skate past his legal troubles.

And if that sounds wild, it’s definitely not the first time Hov has been accused of playing puppet master behind the scenes.

Take the Tory Lanez vs. Megan Thee Stallion case, for example.

Tory’s father was loud throughout the trial, and after the guilty verdict, he went on a fiery rant outside the courthouse, straight-up accusing Jay-Z and Roc Nation of manipulating the case:

“I just stood here in this Los Angeles County and witnessed the worst miscarriage of justice that this world has ever seen! I got some names I wanna call—Alex Spiro, Desiree Perez, and the whole wicked system of Roc Nation, including you, Jay-Z! Yes, yes, you! You who say you rose from the gutter, but you have traded and bled the souls of young men—and you’re still doing it!”

But he didn’t stop there. He also claimed that Roc Nation had tampered with an independent witness named Sean Kelly.

According to Tory’s dad, Kelly originally backed Tory’s side but suddenly switched up after a private meeting with Roc Nation’s legal team. The implication? That he was pressured—or even paid—to change his testimony.

And Tory’s team wasn’t about to let that slide. They even resurfaced an old clip where Tory himself said Roc Nation tried to shut him up:

“I get a call from Roc Nation that says, ‘Yo, we heard you’re going to make a statement about what happened, and it’d be in your best interest if you don’t make that statement.’”

And guess what? That’s not even the only time Jay-Z has been accused of working behind the scenes to protect his people.

There’s also the whole situation with Nicki Minaj.

Rumor has it that Nicki was planning to expose Meek Mill’s alleged abusive behavior in a documentary, but Roc Nation—who was managing Meek at the time—allegedly stepped in and shut it down before it could see the light of day.

Nicki has been open about witnessing domestic violence as a child and how it shaped her:

“I remember when my mother would let my father be violent with her. I would stand in front of her, trying to protect her. Maybe that’s why people describe me as abrasive—because I vowed from that age that no man would ever abuse me, call me out my name, or treat me like that. And then, suddenly, that was my life.”

Now, fast-forward to today, and Drake is allegedly pushing a new theory—that Jay-Z used his influence to make sure A$AP Rocky got off scot-free.

And here’s where things get really interesting.

One of the jurors in Rocky’s case later admitted that most of them actually thought he was guilty—but still voted not guilty.

“I think most of us felt it was a gun, just from the behavior on the videos and some of the testimony. But a lot of the witnesses—we didn’t consider all of their testimonies to be reliable.”

Another big red flag? The supposed weapon was never recovered.

“I didn’t really believe it. I didn’t think they had convincing evidence that it was a prop gun. The way it disappeared was suspicious, and some of the testimony didn’t sound truthful.”

And now, Drake is pointing fingers at Jay-Z, claiming he was the one pulling the strings behind the scenes to make sure Rocky walked free.

So… is Drake onto something, or is he just stirring the pot?
